On July 25, the remaining groups of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the southern governorate of al-Quneitra began handing over their heavy weapons to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) under a reconciliation agreement, which was reached earlier this month.
Photos released by Syrian pro-government sources showed that the weapons included a BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV), an AMB-S armored ambulance, a modified Grad rocket launcher, a D-30 122-mm towed howitzer and a South African-made RG-31 Nyala Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle.

According to local observers, the BMP-1, AMB-S and D-30 were captured from the SAA years ago. However, the modified Grand rocket launcher was likely supplied to the FSA via Jordan and the RG-31 Nyala was captured from United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) by the al-Nusra Front in 2014.

Once all the weapons are handed over to the SAA, FSA fighters will be allowed to withdraw towards the opposition-held areas in northern Syria or to stay and reconcile with the Damascus government.
