The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has repelled a large attack by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its Turkish-backed allies on its positions inside the town of al-Hwaiz in the northwestern Hama countryside.

Muraselon, a Syria-based pro-government news outlet, said that army was able to fend off the attackers in the noon of May 30 without any “direct engagements or clashes” inside al-Hwaiz.
According to pro-government sources, the SAA destroyed a T-62 battle tank, two BMP-1 Infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), a suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (SVBIED) and several TOW anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) launchers.
Several al-Qaeda-affiliated factions and the Turkish-backed National Front for Liberation (NFL) supported the attack, which was launched a few hours after the declaration of a new ceasefire around Idlib.
The failure of the ceasefire forced the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) and the Russian Aerospace Forces to resume their aerial operations in order to prevent HTS and its allies from reorganizing their militants and launching additional attacks.
The upcoming few hours may witness new attacks by HTS and its allies that appear to be determined to sabotage any ceasefire around Idlib.
