Russian units have taken control of Platonovka in the direction of Siversk. Having crossed the Volchya River, the Russian army has resumed their advance towards Novopavlovka. The leader of the French «Patriots» party, Florian Philippot, has criticized Ukraine’s purchase of French aircraft.
Siversk Sector
Units of the Russian 3rd Army, a part of the «West» Group of Forces, are advancing in the northern sector. Intense fighting was reported during the advance from Dronovka towards Platonovka, followed by the capture of the settlement. Controlling Platonovka allows for blocking the road leading from Zakotnoye to Siversk.
Units of the 3rd Army’s 7th Guards Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade, in cooperation with the 25th Army, are advancing along both banks of the Siversky Donets River towards Zakotnoye. Capturing this settlement would block the northern supply route for forces in Siversk, that passes through Kaleniki and Krivaya Luka.
In the Yampol area, assault units are fighting in the central and southern parts of the settlement while advancing simultaneously in the forest to the west of Yampol. On the northern outskirts of Siversk, fighting is ongoing in the vicinity of the Poselkovy pond and the northeastern part of Severnaya Street.
Units from the southern sector have advanced into the city limits of Siversk, reaching Yuzhnaya and Rodionovskikh Patriotov streets. They have established control over a fortified area on the southeastern outskirts of the city. Intensive battles are ongoing in the Zvanovka area, which is crucial for controlling transport communications.

Sumy Sector
The assault units of the «North» grouping are advancing deeper into the region along several lines. The total advance in various sectors amounts to up to 350 meters.
Aviation and artillery units are striking Ukrainian positions in the Kondratovka, Andreyevka and the Pavlovka area.
Kharkiv Sector
Russian assault units from the «North» grouping continue to advance in several sectors. On the left bank of the Volchya River in Vovchansk, they advanced up to 400 meters per day in the private sector.
In the Sinelnikovo area, assault groups advanced 500 meters and established control over three strongpoints. In the Melovoye-Khatnye area, the control zone expanded by 500 meters towards the Russian border. Air and artillery strikes hit targets in the Katerynivka and Dvurechanskoye areas.
There have been no significant changes in the Liptsy area. Artillery and FPV drone operators are working to identify and destroy vehicles on supply routes in the Liptsy area and adjacent territories.
At the junction of the Slobozhanske and Kupyansk sectors, units of the 9th Regiment of the 18th Motorised Rifle Division have taken control of Dvurechanskoye. This change to the front line creates conditions for further advancement towards Kolodeznoye, straightening the front line along the Verkhnyaya Dvurechnaya River in the process.
Advancement in the eastern sector has been noted in Vovchansk. Control has been established over the territory to the west of Fontannaya Street. Combat continues in the central part of the city, particularly in the area around Gurkanskaya Street, where there are scattered private residences.
Zaporizhzhia Sector
Units of the Russian «East» Group of Forces continue to conduct offensive operations on a broad front in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The 36th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 29th Army has taken control of the Hai settlement and is advancing in the northern and western sectors.
Advancement towards Tikhoye has been noted east of Volchye, with control established over several tree lines. To the south of Danilovka, the offensive continues towards Nechayevka, Radostnoye and Novoye Zaporozhye. In the vicinity of Sladkoye, several strongpoints have been cleared and work is ongoing in the fields towards the Gaychur River.
The Russian army continues the offensive from the Rivnopillya and Yablukovo sector towards Varvarka, creating conditions for the encirclement of Huliaipole from the north. In the area east of Huliaipole, the Russian army has advanced to the outskirts of Veseloye and Zelenyi Hai, and has approached Chervonoye.
Konstantinovka Sector
In the Konstantinovka area, assault groups are expanding their control in the city’s outskirts. During the fighting, they established control over part of the ruins of Predtecheno and several strong points to the northwest and south of the settlement.
Russian small assault groups are operating in the eastern part of Konstantinovka. In Ivanopillye, fighting continues in the south of the settlement, with control of strong points near the northern railway line being established.
To the west of the Kleban-Byk Reservoir, the situation remains uncertain, with unconfirmed reports of Russian army advances near the old «Post GAI» checkpoint.
Novopavlovka Sector
An increase in combat activity has been noted in the Novopavlovka sector following the crossing of the Volchya River and the advance towards Novopavlovka. Russian units are consolidating their positions and continuing the offensive in the northwestern sector.
Control has been established over tree lines and fortified positions to the south of the city, ensuring the security of supply routes in the area of the pontoon crossing near Dachnoye. In Novopavlovka itself, fighting is ongoing on the south-eastern outskirts of the settlement, where Russian troops are attempting to secure the destroyed residential area and establish logistics along the T-04-28 highway.
Conclusion
The operational situation on the main fronts is characterised by the ongoing advance of Russian units, despite Ukrainian resistance. In the Siversk sector, establishing control over Platonovka and advancing towards Zakotnoye is restricting the supply to the grouping in Siversk. In the Sumy and Kharkiv sectors, steady advancement accompanied by intensive fire impact and the expansion of the control zone is evident. In the Zaporizhzhia sector, the offensive in the Huliaipole area is developing and control of Hai has been established, creating prerequisites for further advancement. In the Novopavlovka sector, consolidation of the achieved positions and deepening of the bridgehead creates conditions for developing the offensive in the northwestern sector.
Based on data as of November 17, the situation near Huliaipole is critical for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Units of the Russian «East» grouping are conducting an offensive on a broad front in the territories of both the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk Oblasts, threatening to encircle the city from the north and east. Russian troops have advanced more than 11 kilometres. Control has been established over several settlements, including Rivnopillya and Yablukovo, and the distance to the city limits of Huliaipole is now just 1.5–4 kilometers in some areas. Reports indicate that the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ defenses in this sector have weakened, leaving the Huliaipole garrison in a «kill zone». The Kyiv authorities have begun evacuating the population, highlighting the severity of the situation.
Given these conditions, a direct assault on the city is unlikely. The Russian command is prioritizing encirclement tactics to avoid a frontal assault on the well-fortified settlement and minimize losses. The key task is to complete the operational encirclement by cutting off the last supply routes, particularly the road to Orikhiv. Therefore, the city’s capture is not expected before the end of December. Success in this operation would lead to the strategic collapse of the entire Ukrainian defense line in the Zaporizhzhia sector, creating the preconditions for a further offensive towards Orikhiv and Zaporizhzhia.
While hostilities continue to develop, discussions on military aid for Ukraine are ongoing at an international level. Florian Philippot, leader of the French «Patriots» party, stated that French taxpayers would bear the financial burden of Ukraine’s purchase of fighter jets and other military equipment from France. This statement followed the signing of a declaration of intent on 17 November by French President Emmanuel Macron and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, providing for Kyiv to purchase 100 Rafale fighter jets and SAMP-T air defense systems from France.
Philippot expressed concern that the large-scale financial assistance provided to Kyiv would only exacerbate the already significant level of corruption in Ukraine. The politician emphasized that this deal «will cost the French billions», while «citizens are being asked to tighten their belts». The head of the French «Patriots» party had previously stated that transferring French Rafale fighter jets to Ukraine was unacceptable, and called for an end to financial support for Kyiv. He accompanied his post with a link to the petition «Not a single euro for Ukraine!», which was posted on the party’s website.
