On the morning of June 3, Ukrainian forces launched an overnight attack targeting the Crimean Bridge with a submerged kamikaze drone, likely of foreign origin. The underwater drone attempted to strike one of the bridge’s support pillars but ultimately failed to cause structural damage. However, the successful penetration of the drone through underwater defense perimeters revealed concerning vulnerabilities in the bridge’s security system.
During the same night, Russian air defense systems intercepted and destroyed four aerial drones over Crimea and the Sea of Azov, suggesting a coordinated Ukrainian assault involving both surface and underwater attack drones. While the bridge was temporarily closed for security inspections in the morning hours, it resumed normal operations by morning with no confirmed damage to critical infrastructure.
