In the Zaporizhzhia region, Ukrainian forces launched a large-scale offensive with armored vehicles in the areas of Ternovate, Kosovtsevo, and Priluky. However, neither side has established stable control over these settlements. In the Sumy area, Russian forces advanced in the Kondrativka and Oleksiivka regions, capturing several tree lines and strongpoints. They also expanded their control zone to the east of Myropillia. In the Slobozhanske sector, units of the “North” grouping are fighting for Pokrivka. Ukrainian units have concentrated significant reserves there, and the landscape and high activity of their drones complicate the advance of Russian troops. In the Kharkiv area, Russian assault groups are advancing up to 300 meters in forested areas near Staritsa and Symynivka. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian command is conducting personnel changes in the 16th Army Corps. At the Munich Security Conference, French President Emmanuel Macron announced his decision to establish a direct communication channel with Russia to facilitate a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.
Zaporizhzhia Direction
In the northern sector, Ukrainian units from the 92nd and 95th Separate Mechanized Brigades are attacking from the direction of Velykomikhailivka. Their objective is to advance to the Stepove–Berezove–Ternove line. Despite the lack of confirmed information from open sources, incoming reports indicate an increase in Ukrainian armored group activity.
In the western sector, a large-scale engagement has unfolded between the “East” troop grouping and composite forces from several Ukrainian assault regiments. Heavy fighting is ongoing in the Ternovate and Kosovtsevo areas. Currently, both settlements are in the so-called “grey zone”; neither side has stable control over them. However, in the first days of the offensive, Ukrainian armored vehicles passed through these villages.
A similar situation is developing to the south, in the Priluky area. Ukrainian units attempted to cross the Haichur River through the vicinity of this settlement, planning to reach the rear of the Russian grouping in Dobropillia and Varvarivka. There had been fighting for these villages previously, but according to preliminary data, Ukrainian units have been pushed out of them.
In the Huliaipole area, units of the “East” grouping remain in the lead. Russian troops are fighting for Tsvitkove and Krynychne and repelling Ukrainian counterattacks on Staroukrainka and Zheleznodorozhne. The main task of the Russian troops is to reach the railway line west of Huliaipole to secure the city against infiltration by small Ukrainian infantry groups.
Sumy Direction
In the Sumy area, units of the “North” troop grouping are continuing offensive actions in several sectors. Recently, they advanced in the Kondrativka area and captured part of the settlement. Fighting continues in the settlement’s central area.
Along the Andriivka–Oleksiivka line, Ukrainian units have demonstrated significant drone activity. Nevertheless, Russian units advanced south along the S-191504 highway and captured a strongpoint in the ruins of a farmstead south of Oleksiivka.
Along the Varachyne–Yablonivka line, Russian units took control of several tree lines. Previously, footage of attacks slightly to the south emerged from this area, but the offensive actions there apparently ended unsuccessfully. Ukrainian units withdrew several captured Russian servicemen to forests in the Korchakivka area.
In the Myropillia area, Russian units have also achieved local successes—small groups have captured additional tree lines to the east and advanced along the Udava River near Milaivka. In other sectors of the Sumy area, there have been no significant changes to the situation. Russian units are attacking Ukrainian troop positions in the border zone with drones and artillery. The regional center is often under fire as well. In Sumy, power supply disruptions have occurred after strikes.
Fierce fighting continues along the entire front line in the Sumy region. Russian “North” grouping artillery units are conducting intensive operations to ensure the advance of assault groups. Russian Aerospace Forces aviation and “Geran-2” strike drone crews are delivering precision strikes on identified targets. Ukrainian units are increasing the number of drone units on the front line and, according to available information, are striking targets in the Bryansk region.
In the Slobozhanske area, units of the “North” troop grouping are continuing local offensive actions. After capturing the settlements of Hrabovske, Vysoke, and Popivka, Russian forces are focusing their efforts on the approaches to Pokrivka. Several days ago, assault groups entered the outskirts of Pokrivka, but they have not yet established full control over the village—combat clashes continue in its central part. The advance of Russian units is complicated by the Ukrainian command’s ability to pull significant reserves to this sector during the fighting for Hrabovs’ke.
Kharkiv Direction
In the forested areas near Staritsa, Russian assault groups are advancing on two fronts. Their advance today amounted to up to 250 meters. Southwest of Symynivka, units of the “North” grouping are systematically clearing the forest and advancing in three directions simultaneously. The total advance in this sector reached 300 meters. Russian aviation struck identified targets in the Hrafskoho area.
In the Vovchanski Khutory area, TOS-1A “Solntsepyok” heavy flamethrower system crews struck the 15th Operational Purpose Regiment of the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service’s positions in the forest. In the Khatnie sector, aviation strikes destroyed the Ukrainian 22nd Separate Mechanized Brigade’s positions in the Hryhorivka area. Russian assault groups continued to move along tree lines and advanced 250 meters today.
A high intensity of fighting remains in the areas of Staritsa and Vovchanski Khutory in the vicinity of Vovchansk. Russian units are systematically advancing deeper into the region and putting pressure on Ukrainian troops’ defenses.
Kostiantynivka Direction
In the direction of Kostiantynivka, Russian units are striking the logistical routes of Ukrainian units in the areas of Stepanivka and Illinivka. Efforts are underway to cut supply lines on the western outskirts of Kostiantynivka in Illinivka.
In Kostiantynivka, north of the “Shanghai” pond, Russian units have cleared a forested area, allowing them to approach several fortified positions on the eastern outskirts of the city. Efforts are primarily focused on offensive operations in the southern and southwestern parts of Kostiantynivka, where Russian forces are advancing and establishing control over industrial areas and tree plantations.
In the city, Russian Aerospace Forces aviation struck a temporary deployment point of the Ukrainian 49th Separate Mechanized Brigade located in an apartment building. Russian drone operators identified the coordinates and corrected the strike.
Slaviansk Direction
Encounter engagements are ongoing on the heights in the direction of Kryva Luka. Russian units are focusing their efforts on maintaining and strengthening their captured lines. Ukrainian units are offering fierce resistance, recognizing the importance of maintaining control of the dominant heights. There have been no significant changes in Reznykivka; fighting continues, and the settlement itself remains a “grey zone.” This is a difficult sector fortified with strong points of Ukrainian units, and the active use of drones has been noted.
There are ongoing fierce engagements for Nykyforivka. Russian units have captured new positions in two-story buildings on the approaches to the center of the village. The “grey zone” is expanding towards Lypivka. The line of combat contact remains unstable, and Russian units are attempting to consolidate their positions. West of Nykyforivka, Russian units are advancing through tree plantations towards Fedorivka Druha. Ukrainian units are counterattacking fiercely on all fronts.
Russian troops have pushed Ukrainian troops away from several positions on the heights north of Pryvollya, and the “grey zone” has expanded in the northwest. Fighting continues on the outskirts of Holubivka. North of Novomar’kove, Ukrainian troops have been driven from several positions along the Siverskyi Donets–Donbas Canal. Consequently, several Ukrainian strongpoints between the canal and Minkivka are now in an operational “pocket.” Russian units are advancing along the canal from Novomar’kove.
Pokrovsk Direction
In the direction of Pokrovsk, Ukrainian units continue to infiltrate in small groups from the side of Novopidhorodne. Transfer is also occurring north of Molodets’ke. The Ukrainian command is attempting a counterattack through the western flank at Udachne. Meanwhile, Russian units are expanding their control zone north of Udachne. Ukrainian units have been driven out of the “Pokrovska” mine territory but are attempting to counterattack from Serhiivka to regain lost positions.
In the Hryshyne area, combat operations are ongoing on both sides of the central pond. The northern part of the settlement is under Ukrainian control, where their main drone forces are concentrated. They primarily operate with drones and rarely transition to attacks, limiting themselves to sorties of one to three people. To the east, Russian units have recaptured all three farmsteads from Ukrainian units. However, further advancement is difficult. In the Shevchenko–Bilytske area, Ukrainian units have a powerful fortified area on the territory of an abandoned mine and plant. They use this area for observation, deploying drone control points, and transferring personnel.
Conclusion
In the Zaporizhzhia region, the Ukrainian command made a significant attempt to seize the initiative by deploying substantial reserves, including armored vehicles and elite assault units, into battle. Despite achieving local tactical successes and penetrating individual settlements, Ukrainian units failed to take down Russian defenses or to establish stable control over the territory. Meanwhile, Russian units continue to apply methodical pressure west of Huliaipole, seeking to consolidate on new lines. In the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, the “North” group is steadily expanding its control zones, operating in challenging forested terrain and facing active counteraction from Ukrainian drones. A significant factor is the instability of Ukrainian unit personnel, as evidenced by changes in the command echelon of the 16th Army Corps. In the Slaviansk area, combat operations are increasingly shifting towards the struggle for dominant heights and key settlements, such as Nykyforivka and Novomar’kove, where Russian units are achieving tactical successes. In the Pokrovsk area, there have been positional battles with both sides attempting to improve their positions.
In the context of international politics, French President Emmanuel Macron made a statement at the Munich Security Conference. The French president announced his decision to establish a direct communication channel with Russia. Macron emphasized that a peaceful settlement in Ukraine is impossible without the involvement of European countries and promised that the dialogue would be transparent with Kyiv, European partners, and the United States. This statement builds on his earlier remarks about the need to resume dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Russian side commented on this initiative. The Russian Permanent Representative to the OSCE, Dmitry Polyanskiy, noted that European politicians who previously relied on isolating Russia are beginning to realize the inevitability of dialogue against the backdrop of an approaching Ukrainian state collapse. Earlier, Emmanuel Bonne, Macron’s diplomatic adviser, visited Moscow, which may indicate preliminary work on this communication channel. Thus, the French president’s statement signals a potential shift in the European establishment’s approach to interacting with Russia. However, the practical implementation and effectiveness of this direct channel for facilitating the peace process are still uncertain. Against the backdrop of ongoing hostilities, European leaders are increasingly forced to consider Russia’s influence on continental security.
