For the second day in a row, hundreds of civilians protested against Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in the town of Inkhi, in the northern Daraa countryside, the Syrian pro-opposition news outlet Enab Baladi reported on March 28.

Enab Baladi reported that the protestors had called on HTS militants to withdraw from the town immediately. Moreover, the protestors expressed their rejection of any attacks on positions of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) near the town.

Several Syrian opposition sources reported on March 11 that HTS and the FSA in southern Syrian were preparing to launch a large scale military operation to cut the Damascus-Daraa highway off and to besiege the SAA in the city of Daraa.

Since then, HTS and its allies have displaced by force a high number of civilians from their villages near the front lines with the SAA under the pretext of protecting them.

According to Syrian pro-government activists, dozens of villages in Daraa governorate want to sign a reconciliation agreement with the Damascus government amid the militants’ defeat in the Eastern Ghouta region.

Local observers believe that militants in southern Syrian and their backers are attempting to sabotage these peaceful efforts.
