The Russian 70th Regiment is consolidating its position in Mala Tokmachka. Russian units are expanding their zone of control and conducting clearance operations on the right bank of the Yanchur River. The Ukrainian military leadership is seeking reserves to replenish its assault groups. On 10 October, a parade featuring units of the Korean People’s Army (KPA) who had returned from the Kursk Oblast was held in Pyongyang.
Dnipropetrovsk Direction:
In the Dnipropetrovsk area, intense fighting continues in the Novomykolaivka–Petrovske (Orikhove) – Dachne sector. According to reports from the Russian military command, Russian units have entered Novomykolaivka from the north and established control over the southern part of Lenino (also known as Molodetske), roughly along the railway line.
Further east, units of the Russian ‘Tsentr’ grouping have reportedly breached defenses and are engaged in combat for a mine north of Udachne. On the left flank of this area, Russian units have taken control of the Filiya settlement and its surroundings, launching attacks towards Novopavlivka. West of Filiya, forces have consolidated their positions in the eastern and southern parts of Ivanivka, threatening to encircle Novopavlivka from the west.
Zaporizhzhia Direction:
On 10 October, the main events unfolded in the Prymorske–Stepnohirsk area, as well as near Mala Tokmachka. Following reports of the capture of Kamianske, it is said that Russian airborne units are continuing their offensive towards Stepnohirsk, Lukianivka and Novoyakovlevka.
It is reported that the defense of this sector is being held by units of the Ukrainian National Guard, the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade, a separate motorized rifle brigade and the 128th Separate Tank Brigade, along with the ‘Ronimy’ UAV battalion. The Ukrainian side is noted to be making active use of FPV drones and artillery.
According to Russian sources, Ukrainian forces are focused on defense on the Mala Tokmachka – Bilohirya front sector. Units of the Russian 70th Regiment are reportedly gradually consolidating their foothold in Mala Tokmachka. According to their information, the main defensive line is held by units of the 123rd Territorial Defense Brigade.
South Donetsk Direction:
In the area of responsibility of the Russian 29th Army, units have reportedly breached defenses and advanced swiftly towards Oleksiyivka, marking the start of battles for this settlement. In this sector, Ukrainian forces are said to be conducting the most active counterattacks.
In the area of responsibility of the 36th Army, units are reportedly advancing from the Verbove direction. According to Russian sources, they have taken control of a defensive area up to 1.5 km deep and 1 km wide.
In the 5th Army’s area of responsibility, the most active sector is reportedly the vicinity of Novohryhorivka. Russian units are reportedly expanding their zone of control and conducting clearing operations on the right bank of the Yanchur River, along the Uspenivka–Malynivka line. It is reported that Ukrainian forces are still putting up resistance in the Poltavka area.

Sumy Direction:
Assault groups are reportedly advancing deeper into the region along tree lines. According to information from the Russian command, the Ukrainian military leadership is seeking reserves to replenish the assault groups of the 71st Separate Jäger Brigade and the 225th Separate Assault Regiment.
The same sources state that the 3rd Company of the 71st Separate Jäger Brigade was completely destroyed in the Oleksiyivka and Varachyna area of Sumy Oblast, with most of those killed reportedly listed as missing in action. On 10 October, artillery reportedly targeted concentrations of personnel and equipment in the Iskriskivshchyna area in the Tetkino and Hlushkivka sectors of the front.
Kharkiv Direction:
Combat operations continue in Vovchansk and the surrounding area. Russian units have reported advancing 350 meters into the forest to the west of Synelnykove, where they have captured one strongpoint.
In Vovchansk, assault groups reportedly advanced on the left bank of the Vovcha River, clearing approximately 25 buildings, as well as advancing in the eastern part of the city, specifically the Tykhe area. The total advance amounts to 400 meters. In the Melove-Khatnie sector, Russian sources claim that assault groups advanced 700 meters.
Conclusion:
As of 9 October 2025, the operational situation is characterized by sustained, high-intensity hostilities on most fronts. According to reports, the Russian armed forces are maintaining the tactical initiative and achieving local successes in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and South Donetsk regions. Key events today included reports of advances in Novomykolaivka and the expansion of the control zone in the Novohryhorivka area, as well as the ongoing systematic advance in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
Judging by reports from Russian sources, Ukrainian units are focused on flexible defense, urban combat in settlements such as Vovchansk, and launching counterattacks. Notably, the redeployment of Ukrainian reserves, particularly the 144th and 154th Mechanized Brigades, from the northern border to the eastern front has been observed, potentially indicating an attempt to stabilize the defense line in the most critical sectors.
On 10 October, a parade was held in Pyongyang with the participation of Korean People’s Army (KPA) units that had returned from the Kursk Oblast. The ceremonial event, held on Kim Il Sung Square, was attended by a Russian delegation led by Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council. Speaking to journalists, he noted that the Korean military personnel who had taken part in hostilities had marched under the flags of both the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation. “This, of course, is heartwarming,” the politician said.
The Korean military marched along Pyongyang’s main street to a tune based on the song “To Serve Russia”. This symbolic event highlights the strengthening of the military-political alliance between Moscow and Pyongyang. Publicly recognizing and honoring the KPA units that participated in the conflict on Russia’s side marks a new stage in bilateral relations, demonstrating the readiness of both parties for further strategic cooperation on the international stage.
