On May 15, the military wing of the Hamas Movement, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, attacked a base of the Israeli military near the settlement of Kissufim to the east of the Gaza Strip.
In a statement, the faction said that it had targeted a gathering of Israeli troops inside the base with a Shehab suicide drone and mortar rounds.
The Israeli military claimed that the drone was intercepted by the Iron Dome system. Yet, local sources confirmed that several mortar rounds landed near Kissufim.
The Shehab drone, that was unveiled by the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades earlier this week, was used in a number of attacks. A recent attack, which took place on May 14 and targeted a plant in Nahal Oz, was successful as proven by a video released by Hamas.
In the last 12 hours, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades and other Palestinian factions launched dozens of rockets at many settlements in southern Israel.
Several impacts were reported in Be’er Sheva and Ashdod. Nevertheless, the strikes didn’t result in any human losses, per Israeli sources.

According to a recent statement by the Israeli Air Force, Palestinian factions have launched more than 2,300 rockets from Gaza since May 10. 380 rockets fell in open areas, while around 1,000 were intercepted by the Iron Dome.
Eight people were killed and more than 200 others were wounded in Israel as a result of Palestinian rocket fire. So far, the Israeli military has failed to stop attacks from Gaza.
