Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies developed their ongoing large-scale military operation in northern Hama and launched a ground attack on the towns of al-Hamameyat and Kernaz on June 7.
The Turkish-backed National Front for Liberation (NFL) and many al-Qaeda-affiliated groups are supporting the ongoing operation, which was named after Mu’tasim Bellah al-Madani, a prominent Saudi figure of al-Qaeda, who was recently killed by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).
Pro-government sources said that the SAA is working to repel the new attack on al-Hamameyat and Kernaz. Earlier the army was able to recapture the town of Kafrhood from terrorist groups.
Russian and Syrian warplanes are currently carrying out airstrikes on terrorists’ positions, vehicles and gatherings in northern Hama and southern Idlib.
The situation in northern Hama is expected to escalate further in the upcoming few hours, as HTS and its allies appear to be determined to go on with their operation.
