Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) news network, Iba’a, announced on May 16 that the terrorist group had shelled a “Russian operations room” with Grad rockets and artillery rounds.
Iba’a claimed that the supposed “Russian operations room” is stationed in the northern Hama countryside, without providing any additional details.
Pro-government activists didn’t report any shelling on any military position in northern Hama. However, local sources said that several rockets landed on civilian buildings in the small village of al-Jarniyah, which is located next to the town of al-Suqaylabiyah.
Doctor Issam Hawsha, a director of the National Hospital in al-Suqaylabiyah, said that two children were killed as a result of the shelling.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack on al-Jarniyah, so far. However, it is likely that HTS shelling actually targeted the town instead of a “Russian operations room”.
Last week, four children were killed and six others were severely injured as a result of a similar rocket attack on al-Suqaylabiyah.
