The Iraqi military deployed American-made M1A1 SA and Russian-made T-90S main battle tanks along the border with Syria.
The deployment came amid an attack by the forces of the Islamist-led Syrian transitional government on the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), with reports indicating that many ISIS detainees who were held in the northeast of the country have escaped as a result of the fighting.
As the attack on the SDF in northeastern Syria began to gain momentum in the last few days, the Iraqi military, security forces, and the Popular Mobilization Forces, in addition to the forces of the autonomous region of Kurdistan, deployed massive reinforcements along the border with the country.
The photos showing the Abrams and T-90S tanks moving along the border line surfaced online on January 21. The tanks, seven Arabs and five T-90S, appear to be a part of a single company.
The Iraqi military operates a fairly large fleet of tanks, including 100 Abrams and 73 T-90S, as well as more than 478 T-72 and 150 T-55 originally made in the Soviet Union.
In recent days, Iraq’s top officials, including caretaker Prime Minister Mohammad al-Sudani, Defense Minister Thabit al-Abbasi, and Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, all visited the border with Syria and inspected troops deployed there.
Iraq maintains good relations with the Syrian government, and al-Sudani even called President Ahmad al-Sharaa on January 20. However, as evident by the large Iraqi military buildup along the border, the country is very cautious about the situation there.
Iraq has more troops and far better equipment than Syrian government forces. Still, since the fall of the regime of former President Bashar al-Assad, it has been working to enhance its military capabilities, especially its tank fleet.
The country developed an add-on anti-drone armored package for its T-90S tanks, and has been looking to upgrade its Abrams tanks. In addition, reports indicate that the country is working on a deal with South Korea to purchase at least 250 K2 Black Panther tanks. The deal would more than double the number of modern tanks currently in service with the Iraqi military.
A confrontation between Iraqi and Syrian forces is unlikely, but limited clashes could soon break out along the border. ISIS will likely attempt to infiltrate back into Iraq, and some radical Islamists within the government in Syria will likely help the terrorist group.

trump should do a prison break and get tina peters out of colorado state prison.
trump should just drop dead. the saa is isis now…of course they will help attack iraq. i said it before, this is going to be massive, it’s make or break and the orange baboon hates to be a loser. but it’s too late he already is. they don’t call him taco for nothing. all his plans are crap and if not they turn to crap fast. him and bibi’s uprising in iran a big failure.
it should be noted that the reform only affected the structure of the ground forces. the international legion of the main intelligence directorate of ukraine operates separately and continues to function as usual.

how can iraq allow ussa to fly in 7000 “isis” operatives into iraq and do nothing about it. and how can kurds of iraq also allow that, after being backstabbed by ussa. cowards can be more dangerous than psychopaths…unbelievable.
all the pieces are carefully placed and coordinated. all they need is the false flag to launch the attack. the zionist globalist military entity ignores reason or common sense. can iran drop drones on these tanks ? nuclear ?
