Iran made preparations to close the strategic Strait Of Hormuz amid the recent war with Israel, Reuters reported on July 2.
Citing two United States officials, the news agency said that Iran loaded naval mines onto vessels in the Persian Gulf sometime during the war, which was started by Israel on June 13. The officials didn’t disclose precisely when this happened, how the U.S. was able to detect the move, or if any of the mines were in fact deployed.
The Strait of Hormuz is crucial to the global energy market. Approximately one-fifth of the world’s daily oil consumption and a significant portion of liquefied natural gas transit through this narrow waterway.
On June 22, shortly after the U.S. bombed three of Iran’s key nuclear sites, the parliament of the Islamic Republic reportedly backed a measure to block Hormuz. That decision was not binding, and it was up to Iran’s Supreme National Security Council to make a final decision on the closure, Iran’s Press TV said at the time.
Two days after the U.S. attack, codenamed Operation Midnight Hammer, the war came to a sudden end with both Iran and Israel accepting an unconditional ceasefire.
Asked for comment about Iran’s preparations, a White House official told the news agency: “Thanks to the President’s brilliant execution of Operation Midnight Hammer, successful campaign against the Houthis, and maximum pressure campaign, the Strait of Hormuz remains open, freedom of navigation has been restored, and Iran has been significantly weakened.”
Iran has for long threatened to close the Strait Of Hormuz in case of an all-out confrontation with Israel and the U.S., and while it stopped short from doing so during the last war, this remains an option for Tehran.
The Islamic Republic has the means to shut down the strategic waterway. Iranian forces can achieve this not only by deploying mines, but also by firing anti-ship missiles from coastal defenses and speedboats, raiding vessels from helicopters and even sending its submarines on hunt-and-kill missions.
The closure of the strait would have a devastating impact on the global energy market. Iran itself would be among the most affected. However, in case of an all-out confrontation, this would not be the worst option for Tehran.

blah blah blah. iran won’t do anything of the sort.
iran punished the zionists.
and yet the us all steamed out of their bases in the gulf, to avoid being trapped and destroyed there. it seems they didn’t share your confidence
they will if the israelis and the us don’t behave themselves.
the iranians need permission from china to close the strait. the chinese didn’t give permission and iran didn’t do it. simple as that.
who else are the chinese supposed to sell their crap to? they are completely dependent on the shekels of the west. by the way, we will settle with china if they are stupid enough to attack taiwan.
taiwan is already part of china. that’s the legal position.
iran will cripple its very own crippling economy by choking itself.
the fact that the zionist pigs are already preparing for round 2 proves round 1 was a failure for them.
that fact that iran wants f.a.t.w.a – flagrant ayatollah taunting war again
iran is just another unfortunate victim of russian betrayal. due to soviet betrayal of the congo, the honest black patriot patrice lumumba, was brutally tortured and killed. the soviet union also betrayed afghanistan and then, fortunately, collapsed, otherwise the betrayals would have continued. germany did not betray croatia, and that is why ante gotovina was released from the hague prison, but milošević was killed there.due to russian betrayal, nagorno-karabakh became part of azerbaijan.
look at victory parade 2018 at red square (after party on sidewalk with vvp and mileikowsky) you will saw highest quality betrayal. bombing of syria by khazar zionist started one minute later
tuff talk from the sand-niggers…heheheeh
laying naval mines is considered an act of war. but i wonder if sinking a bunch of rusting oil tanker hulks ready for the scrapyard in the middle of the navigation lanes is considered and act of war. anyone knows?
that’s actually an environmentally friendly way to dispose of scrap metal and also creates new coral reefs.
the answer is easy whatever the west does is self defense whatever other countries do is an act of war
like the us did off the coast of nicaragua.
iran has three kilo class submarines and the us hasn’t faced torpedo attacks from submarines in major wars since world war ii
they also have a lot of midget submarines.
hollow vessels makes a lot of noise. i hope they will close hormuz because it gives us a reason to totally destroy the remnants of the iranian army and send that old fool khamenei to hell. his dark soul is mine.
so i guess iran will play nice for now, get nooks and fight another day. as long as khamenei and the regime stay anything israel does is just kicking the can down the road.
they can try and build all the nukes they want jens what iran lacks is the will to act. the supreme leader is a foolish old man who makes allah look foolish for appointing him. the iranian leader is a coward who makes allah look cowardly for appointing him. the ayatollah literally declared a ceasefire and then a fatwa that others should continue fighting against israel, it just wasn’t gonna be him. he is a true coward.
they are waiting in vain for their mahdi to save their asses. but only my trump can safe them form the wrath of the jaws.
the fake jews will be judged by almighty god himself for being impostures and america will be destroyed for allowing their evil against the true israel of god the believers of messiah.
‘his dark soul is mine’. 🥴. you’re really big on theatrics and your own self importance aren’t you ?
hook nose clown.
iran should have done this on day one of the war. up the cost for all the zio fanboys. no point pulling punches dealing with 2 terrorist regimes. just dumping a few mines would do the trick.
iran should announce the closure of hormuz the instant the next bomb falls on iran. let the maga rednecks who voted for chumpo pay their $20 a gallon. mines, submarines, anti ship missiles, any tanker is like a duck in a shooting gallery. chumpo was crapping himself that his joke economy would fall apart and begging for a ceasefire as soon as it looked like hormuz was for the chop. no tanker captain would run the gauntlet at hormuz.
the day of reckoning is getting very close for the arrogant west, where their bankrupt system will collapse and they will be on their knees. their loyalty and patriotism will go out the window on that day.
