On July 20, the ISIS-affiliated Khalid ibn al-Walid Army launched a large attack on the remaining positions of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in the western part of Daraa governotare and the governorate of al-Quneitra, according to the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq.
As a result of the attack, the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army captured the villages of al-Jubaliyah, al-Bakar, al-Abdli, al-Muqaziz, Sad al-Muqaziz, Mu’allaqah, al-Majahid, al-Dar’ayat, Abu Hajar, al-Mushaiyda, Ayn Zubaid and Sad alJubaliyah.
Amaq also reported that Khalid ibn al-Walid Army fighters repelled an attack of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) on their positions in the village of Jillen in the western Daraa countryside. The ISIS-affiliated group claimed that more than 25 soldiers of the SAA were killed during the failed attack.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that warplanes of the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) and the Russian Aerospace Forces conducted a series of airstrike on several positions of the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army in the western Daraa countryside.
In the upcoming days, the SAA and the Russian Aerospace Forces will launch a large scale military operation to eliminate the pocket of the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army. A mission that may take several weeks.
