On October 11, three suicide bombers attacked the Syrian Police headquarters in Khalid ibn al-Walid street in the center of Syria’s capital Damascus according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA). Police Chief of Damascus governorate Major General Khaled Hilal told SANA that 2 civilians were killed, and over 6 others were injured in the attack.
An official of the Ministry of Interior of Syria reveled that the Syrian policemen were able to surround one of the suicide bombers away from the civilians. However, the suicide bomber committed suicide by blowing up himself.
“Two terrorists suicide bombers tried to storm the Police headquarters in Khalid ibn al-Walid street in Damascus this afternoon … The guards clashed with the terrorists which forced them to blow themselves up before entering the Police headquarters building…,” the official told SANA.
Meanwhile, the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq confirmed that ISIS was behind the attack in Damascus. However, Amaq didn’t provide any further information about the attack as it usually do.
This was the second time as ISIS attacked the Syrian Police in Damascus city in October. On October 2, a suicide bomber of ISIS blew up inside a Police center in al-Midan district inside Damascus city killing 15 policemen and civilians.
ISIS attacks inside Damascus city are not usually carried out by ISIS sleeper cells, but by ISIS fighters who control Yarmouk camp in the southern part of Damascus city.
