ISIS cells in the eastern Homs countryside have murdered a civilian after accusing him of being a “spy” for the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).
The terrorists abducted the civilian, who supposedly worked as an informant for the army, from the outskirt of the town of al-Sukhnah on May 14. The unidentified victim was interrogated and then executed by the terrorists.
“Caliphate soldiers captured a spy of the Nusayri apostate army [SAA] west of al-Sukhnah yesterday, and after interrogation he was killed, thank God,” ISIS’ news agency, Amaq, said in a brief statement released on May 15.
According to Amaq, the attack was carried out in the framework of an ongoing “battle of attrition” against the enemies of ISIS.
Dozens of ISIS fighters and commanders are reportedly taking shelter in the Homs desert, which lays between eastern Homs and western Deir Ezzor. The terrorists intensified their attacks recently.
In the last few months, the army and its allies carried out a series of operations to counter the growing ISIS threat in the Homs desert. Nevertheless, the terrorist group’s remnants are still active there.
