On October 24, ISIS launched a counter attack on several positions of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) around the town of al-Susah in the southeastern Deir Ezzor countryside, according to the terrorist group news agency Amaq.

In details, ISIS fighters killed at least 11 US-backed fighters and injured 4 others during the clashes inside and around al-Susah. Furthermore, the terrorist group shelled the aforementioned SDF positions with 65 mortar rounds and rocket-propelled grenades.

According to the group’s media center, US-led coalition warplanes carried out 18 airstrikes on gatherings and vehicles of ISIS, while the coalition rocket launchers launched 7 heavy rockets on positions of the terrorist group.

“In the evening, the terrorists tried to launch a counter attack on our fighters’ positions from two directions, and heavy clashes erupted in the center of the town of al-Susah, which the the terrorist group elements tried to break into … However, our fighters confronted them,” the SDF media center said in its daily press release.

A day earlier, SDF fighters stormed al-Susah and managed to capture several positions around it, including the area of Hawi al-Susah. However, it appears that the remaining ISIS fighters are willing to fight till the end in order to keep the key town under their control.
