The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced on April 19 that a soldier was killed and five others were wounded, including three seriously, in an attack carried out by the Hamas Movement in the northern Gaza Strip.
The slain soldier, a tracker in the Gaza Division’s Northern Brigade, was the first to be killed in Gaza since the IDF resumed its offensive in the Strip on March 18.
The deadly attack took place as the 252nd Division was working to clear the area of Beit Hanoun from tunnels and other infrastructure of Hamas.
According to an initial IDF probe, a group of soldiers driving along an IDF logistics road, close to a military encampment inside Gaza, came under fire by Hamas fighters. The fighters came out of a tunnel shaft and launched a rocket-propelled grenade at the vehicle.
Three troops of the 414th Combat Intelligence Collection Unit were wounded in the attack. Two of them, an officer and a combat medic, are listed in serious condition.
A short while later, rescue forces form the Gaza Division’s Northern Brigade reached the scene, along with trackers from the brigade. However, Hamas fighters set off an explosive device on the side of a road, near the rescue forces, killing the soldier and wounding two other trackers, including one seriously.
The IDF carried out a wave of strikes in the area, in an attempt to eliminate the fighters behind the attack, the military said, without elaborating on the results of the strikes.
Earlier in the day, the IDF announced that the Israeli Air Force struck 150 targets in Gaza, including cells of fighters and Hamas infrastructure, over the last 24 hours. The military said that in total more than 1,400 targets were hit since the offensive was renewed.
The 282nd Artillery Regiment also struck dozens of targets in recent weeks, in the Morag Corridor area between Rafah and Khan Younis in southern Gaza, according to the IDF, which said that the targets include weapon depots, rocket launching sites, and operatives.
Also in the last 24 hours, the IDF said that the 188th Armored Brigade, which is currently operating in the Morag Corridor, killed more than 40 fighters and destroyed numerous weapons, as well as a Hamas pickup truck.
In Rafah’s Shaboura camp, the Givati Brigade and the elite Yahalom combat engineering unit located and demolished a booby-trapped tunnel, according to the IDF, which noted that the tunnel was hundreds of meters long. The troops also located numerous other weapons in the area, the military added.
According to the Hamas-run health ministry, Israeli strikes on Gaza claimed the lives of 92 Palestinains in the last 24 hours.
At least 1,783 Palestinians have been killed since the IDF renewed its operations in Gaza on March 18, shattering a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that was brokered by the United States, Egypt and Qatar last January.
The deadly attack against the IDF in Beit Hanoun represents a turning point in the ongoing battle, as Hamas for the first time since March 18 has shown willingness to fight back. Still, this will not likely stop Israel from escalating even further in Gaza.

so israel has better statistics than i thought.i thought the statistics were 5:1 for hamas, but it’s more much for hamas and that means hamas is dying like flies…
hamas has even worse kia statistics than the houthis.
for us inferior morons in burgerland we cannot tolerate reality–idf obliterates hamas hizbollah routinely
they don’t eat too many hamburgers where i live in america. they eat stupid italian food.
for that person who gave me a thumbs down. screw you! italian food sucks.
so does rat nosed ron dumb guido de santis, that stupid italian governor of florida who made it a felony to say bad things about jews or israel and take away our freedom of speech.
at least you’ve got a choice in what you eat.
p.s. don’t be too concerned with ‘downvotes’. the more the merrier. 🙂
when yoseph haddad fought on the side of israel against nasrallah, the statistics were more fair, 1:1.
i know that yoseph haddad is lying, that he fell into a coma himself because they gave him morphine and that’s called an artificial coma.
what are the official hamas and idf kia statistics?
i like tel aviv gay bars best
courage creates legends whether victory or defeat, as with yahya sinwar.
another amerikunt moron–sinwar facilitated deaths hundred thousand palestinians–a legendary masochist
the mighty israelis still unable to defeat a ragtag militia after 18 months of total war and genocide. 😬
now imagine they fight iran. that’s why they cry for uncle sam’s help. what nutanyahu really means is that uncle trump should do the job for him.
israel cannot challenge iran–iran is capable and prepared
hahahahahahahaha hahahahaha!
probably a few more setbacks but the jews lie through their teeth and will never admit to a setback. the present calamity for the jews is their inability to finish off hamas (and killing women and children galore) and the inability to finish off the hezbollah! tells you something about their military capacities – close to null.
dumb amerikunt inferior–israel has decimated hamas exposed hizbollah impotent
zionist genocidal cowards can not even defeat a bunch of super brave palestinian freedom fighters in almost two years of holocaust, let alone fight iran.
first *acknowledged* losses. israel lies all the time and tries to hide its many problems.
i suffer loss every time i post lies at south front
they must step up the resistance in such a urban warfare scenario with ied, snipers, hit and run. shlomos must pay much more than till now for all theyr crimes. and where are the fpv drones? these are perfect for the slow moving idf armor, mostly standig around in the open in larger groups in and around gaza.
i read from different sites hamas had quite a few successful attacks on their enemy’s ground forces since the cease fire ended. tanks destroyed. buildings blown up with idf soldiers in them and what not.
why south front only publishes the jewish dead only after yahoo and company admit their losses is beyond me. this one podcaster mahmood od claims, hamas held off on attacks initially to sucker idf troops into their territory and set them up for bigger hits.
was hamas really weakened? or were they just playing possum? we’ll have to stay tuned and find out.
the crunge asks the most cringe and rhetorical question of the year ever! meanwhile why this guy is asking this stupid question, every building in gaza is destroyed and looks reminiscent of germany in 1945. while the palestinian woman are scouring the streets, like ragged dogs, looking for food! and soon will be bouncing on an israeli dick.
cringe and cringe……. that’s pretty clever.
pray, do tell us more about this phenomenon ‘israeli dick’
lol
die jews, die!
a few more kiddie killers gone to j hell. we should all send our sympathies to lucifer – imagine having to put up with that lot for all eternity.
send our sympathies to lucifer, what? hearing this, i can finally understand, why this world is so fucked up and gone to hell!
we need a new crusade to liberate the holy places in jerusalem from vile j. occupation. but first we need a crusade to liberate western countries from vile zog occupation..
israel fighting hamas is like america fighting isis…opps we missed again…
