The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) destroyed more Iranian fighter jets, ballistic missiles and suicide drones in a wave of strikes that targeted the Islamic Republic on June 22 morning.

The strikes, carried out by some 20 fighter jets of the Israeli Air Force (IAF), took out two operational F-5 fighter jets in Dezful Airport in southwestern Iran, according to a statement released by the IDF, which also said that eight ballistic missile launchers, including six that were primed for an immediate attack on Israel, were destroyed.

The military added that other targets included “a military site containing components for the production of explosives, sites for the storage and production of weapons, and Iranian air defense systems,” along with military infrastructure at Isfahan Airport, to prevent the Iranian Air Force from using the site’s military facilities.”

Later, the IAF said in two separate statement that it destroyed “dozens” of suicide drones in addition to three primed ballistic missile launchers in Iran.

The latest wave of Israeli strikes were announced just a few hours after the United States completed its first attack on Iran, effectively joining the war initiated by Israel on June 13. The American attack, carried out by bombers and warships, targeted the nuclear sites of Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan.

While the U.S. attack was very limited in scale, President Donlad Trump said that “there are many targets left” in the Islamic Republic, warning that the U.S. will go after those other targets with “precision, speed and skill,” if peace does not come quickly.”

Despite the recent escalation by Israel and the U.S., Iran will not likely back down. In fact, Tehran has already vowed to respond.

In a statement carried by the Iranian state TV, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said that the U.S. should “expect regrettable responses” to its attack.

Iran, the Guards said, would “use options beyond the understanding… of the aggressor front, and the aggressors of this land must expect regrettable responses.” It also said they would continue to target Israel, which has been hit by multiple waves of missile and drone attacks since the outbreak of the war.
