The Afrin Liberation Forces (ALF) announced on March 15 that their units had carried out a series of attacks on Turkish-backed militants in the occupied Syrian area of Afrin.
“Our fighters continue to carry out special operations against the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries in Afrin and its surroundings … within this framework, our fighters carried out three simultaneous operations in Afrin, Mare’ and Azaz on March 13,” an official statement by the ALF’s reads.
In the first operation, Kurdish fighters targeted a position of the Hamza Division in the district Shirawa of Afrin with an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM). One militant was killed and two others were injured as a result.
The other two operations involved sniping two militants of the Euphrates Shield (ES) force in the Turkish-occupied towns of Mare’ and Azaz in northern Aleppo.
In the last few months, the Turkish military and its proxies intensified their combing operations in Afrin to counter the ALF and other similar Kurdish groups. However, the recent attacks indicate that these operations were a complete failure.
