Late on November 27, Kurdish forces stationed in northern Aleppo launched six rockets at the Turkish-occupied city of Azaz and the town of Ennab.

According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the shelling targeted a prison run by Turkish-backed militants. At least three people were reportedly injured as a result of the rocket strike.

“Turkish artillery retaliated from its bases in northern Aleppo, pounding Kurdish forces positions in Meng airbase and [the village o] Shuarga in northern Aleppo,” the SHOR’s report reads.

Kurdish fighters also attacked a position of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) near the town of Marea in northern Aleppo. However, the attack was repelled, according to opposition activists.

Earlier this week, an attack by Kurdish forces on the Turkish-occupied part of northern Aleppo claimed the lives of five SNA militants.

The tension between Kurdish forces and Turkish-backed militants in northern Aleppo intensified last October, following the launch of the Turkish-led attack on northeast Syria.
