A booby-trapped car exploded near the Deir Rasm hospital in the center of the Turkish-occupied city of Afrin on February 21, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). More than eight people were reportedly injured in the explosion.
“Some of the injured civilians, including children, are in a critical condition,” the monitoring group’s report reads.
The attack occurred a few hours after a military parade that was organized by Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) groups and the so-called Military Police in Afrin. During the parade, Turkish flags were raised by the militants, who also chanted pro-Turkish slogans.

Opposition activists accused Kurdish forces of carrying out the attack, which appears to be a warning to the Turkish-backed groups occupying the city since early 2018.
Kurdish forces carried out a series of deadly hit and run attacks against Turkish-backed groups in Afrin over the last few months. In response, the Turkish military and its proxies conducted several security operations to hunt down Kurdish rebels. However, the success of these operations was limited.
