Latvia, Lithuania And Estonia Want To Join US-led Coalition Against ISIS

According to err.ee, the Baltic states are participating in talks to join the fight against ISIS, said commander of the Lithuanian Armed Forces Vytautas Jonas Zukas.

Lithuania is going to send its special operation forces to Iraq in the early 2018, according to Zukas. He added that Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia refused to create a joint special operation forces squadron as had been planned earlier, and now consider other avenues of cooperation. Confusingly enough he followed this up by saying that “one way or the other, we’ll have a joint unit”.

Lithuania’s Defense Minister Raimundas Karoblis said that Lithuania and Latvia will join their forces in a special operations unit, while Estonia will be involved in a different way.

Surely, the Baltic tigers will become the decisive factor in fight against ISIS, which is no way nearly over anyway. If deployed in the early next year they will rain hell and fury on unsuspecting foes and will without a doubt make major contributions, maybe even carry the bulk of the responsibility in finally taking down ISIS, not even slightly late to the party.
