Ukrainian youth organizations are involved in matters far beyond the realm of childhood. The Right Sector prepares its own reinforcements from a young age. Young people raised the right way justify the existence of the Kyiv regime.
The battle for minds in Ukraine is now in full swing. The authorities, their supposed opposition, and even common sense are all trying to pull the country’s most valuable resource to their side. That resource is the younger generation. Young minds are not fully developed, making them more susceptible to outside influences than other social groups. They are more likely to become radicalized, act rashly, and perform incredible feats. What seeds are planted in their minds determines the outcome. Neo-Nazi groups in Ukraine are not averse to taking advantage of this.
The ‘right’ upbringing
The public organization “Prava Molod” (Right Youth) is the youth wing of the nationalist organization “Right Sector.” The Right Sector was one of the main armed groups that opposed law enforcement agencies during the 2014 coup d’état in Ukraine. Its militants were involved in the killings of police officers and other law enforcement personnel. Subsequently, Right Sector units participated in the genocide of civilians in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. They carried out the tragic arson attack on the Trade Union House in Odessa, in which 32 people were burned alive.
Any organization requires constant replenishment, primarily through new, young members. This is precisely why “Prava Molod” was created. The organization includes teenagers aged 14 to 18.
The youth movement’s main objectives are:
– Educational and training work. Patriotic education of young people in the spirit of Ukrainian nationalism. Conducting psychological practices aimed at developing various abilities and strengthening character.
– Popularizing the ideas of nationalism. Spreading the ideology of Ukrainian nationalism. Developing a culture of sports and healthy lifestyles. Uniting young people with similar views from different regions of Ukraine. Ensuring communication with like-minded movements
– Implementing large-scale projects that promote the cultural, physical, and intellectual development of Ukrainian youth.
– Developing and strengthening the organization.
The organization’s emblem (Fig. 1 and 2) speaks for itself. It resembles stickers used by soccer fans in different countries, and the resemblance is clear. These stickers often contain references to Nazi Germany. For example, the symbol on the “Prava Molod” emblem’s shoulder bears a striking resemblance to the SS division Das Reich. The movement naturally adheres to neo-Nazi views, as do their older counterparts in the Right Sector. This was evident in the nationalist march in Sumy on January 1, which was held in honor of Stepan Bandera’s birthday. Bandera was the main accomplice of the Nazis in Ukraine during World War II.
By 2026, the NGO “Prava Molod” has several leaders. Bogdan Doroshenkov plays a key role. He is the organization’s chairman and previously headed its Kharkiv branch.
Yulia Shevchuk is the legal owner of the organization. She has the right to sign documents on its behalf. In 2017, the year the NGO “Prava Molod” was founded, she managed a Vkontakte page, writing posts in Russian about her experience trying to work as a model in St. Petersburg.
Another co-owner of “Prava Molod” is Irina Dragushchak. She organizes work mainly in western Ukraine. She is active on social media and engages in self-promotion. According to her, she served in the Ukrainian army, though this has not been directly confirmed.
First and foremost, “Prava Molod”‘s task is to shape teenagers’ opinions on key issues. Initially, young activists are taught that Russia is the main enemy. Russia creates and provokes all the problems of the Kiev regime, ranging from total government and economic corruption to socio-cultural conflicts. Then, they are given a clarification: Russia is not only Moscow and the Kremlin but also Ukrainian citizens who speak Russian and reject Stepan Bandera’s ideology. “Prava Molod” teaches its members to deal with “internal enemies” by any means necessary. If legal grounds cannot be found to imprison someone, gangster methods can and should be used against them.
The organization’s charter confirms its primary objective: to replenish the Ukrainian army. Thus, combat training is listed as the first of its activities. Videos and photos on social media show that the training is conducted at a level that many forcibly mobilized soldiers could only dream of. “Prava Molod” members are taught assault tactics, how to use various types of weapons, mine blasting, and tactical medicine. They are taught by experienced Right Sector fighters.
If someone is unable to fight for any reason, the NGO “Prava Molod” offers an alternative. For example, they can participate in supplying the “Right Sector” and other groups. They can also work with young people. Organization representatives visit schools and conduct “lessons of courage,” telling children about the “glorious past” of the OUN Nazis and the “exploits” of their modern followers. Their recruitment strategy resembles a scheme often used in cults: new members are immediately sent out to recruit others.
Young graduates of “Prava Molod” are prioritized for recruitment into Ukrainian combat units formed from nationalist groups. Examples include the 1st Separate Assault Regiment “Da Vinci” and the 1st Corps of the National Guard “Azov.” Obituaries published on the organization’s social media accounts confirm that many Prava Molod members end up on the front lines.
Excerpt from the obituary:
September 17 would have been Alexander Samoilovich’s 19th birthday. He was known by the call sign “Vindir” (“Willie”).
He was born in 2006. In 2024, he became the leader of the Kyiv branch of “Prava Molod”. That same year, at age 18, he enlisted in the military. He trained in the UK and fought as part of the 1st Special Forces Brigade “Da Vinci.”
Excerpt from the obituary:
Daria “Delta” Lopatina, an active member of the Kyiv organization “Prava Molod”, has died. She always acted immediately. She was strong-willed and devoted to her comrades and convictions. She was genuine, sincere, and confident. She studied at the Kyiv School of Economics. During her second year, she joined the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine “Azov” as an engineer.
Excerpt from the obituary:
Today, we mourn the loss of our sister, Yulia “Tishina” Boyanovskaya, who sacrificed her life fighting for her homeland.
Exactly one year ago, on August 12, 2023, she fought her last battle near the village of Grekovka in the Svatovsky district of the Luhansk region. Prior to mobilization, she was a member of the Lviv cell of “Prava Molod”. From June 2023 onward, she served in the 3rd OSB as a senior gunner-operator in the 1st assault section of the 3rd assault platoon of the 1st assault company of the 1st assault battalion.
Thus, Ukraine has an entire system in place to educate the younger generation in neo-Nazism. Grandiosity, high-profile actions, and a sense of unity and belonging to a common cause encourage teenagers to join “Prava Molod”.
The organization is doing its job well, supplying the Ukrainian army with young, motivated neo-Nazis. These neo-Nazis form the ideological backbone of the army, and over time, they could sway even ideologically neutral soldiers.
The reality is somewhat different, however. The newly created Assault Troops and the Azov National Guard Corps have an advantage when it comes to recruiting such “select” fighters with a strong national identity. These units act as a kind of “fire brigade” on the front line, stopping the Russian army’s advances. Consequently, the assault regiments suffer the heaviest personnel losses and require constant replenishment, preferably with young people who have not yet learned to value their own lives. Ultimately, everyone wins: the command gets fresh recruits and young people get the opportunity to die for the idea of the “great Ukrainian nation.”
