Support SouthFront

A prominent judge of al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) was assassinated late on November 16 in the northern Idlib countryside.

Opposition activists said that unknown gunmen shot and killed Amir Ahmed al-Huraib near his house in the town of Salqin, a few kilometers away from the border with Turkey.

Known by his nom de guerre “Abu al-Harith al-Shaeiti,” he is originally from the city of al-Mayadin in southern Deir Ezzor. The terrorist worked as a judge and an interrogator in the infamous Aaqrabate prison.

The notorious prison, located right next to the Bab al-Hawa border crossing with Turkey, was recently established by HTS’ security forces.

No side has claimed responsibility for the assassination of Abu al-Harith, so far. ISIS cells in Greater Idlib carried out several similar operations during the past two years.
