UPD: The Russian Ministry of Defense officially confirmed victory in Fyodorovka.

The small village of Fyodorovka has become the latest focal point of intense fighting on the southern Donetsk front, where Russian assault units have pushed Ukrainian forces out after a swift and violent confrontation. The village of Fyodorovka is located south of an important Ukrainian stronghold of Komar, and according to preliminary field reports, it came under Russian control after about a day of fighting.

Russian forces entered the village on June 5. The battle saw Russian troops from the “Vostok” grouping and the 14th Separate Guards Special Forces Brigade conducting coordinated attacks, supported by heavy artillery and drone strikes. Ukrainian defensive positions were systematically targeted before Russian assault groups advanced from multiple directions, forcing remaining Ukrainian units to retreat toward the northern outskirts near the Mokrye Yaly River.

Russian forces reported several key successes during the operation on June 5, including the destruction of a Ukrainian drone command post west of Fyodorovka, an ammunition depot near Komar, and a pickup truck in the Voskresenka area. Additionally, Ukrainian drones, including a “Baba Yaga” multirotor aircraft near Velikaya Novoselka, were shot down, along with 27 kamikaze drones attempting to disrupt Russian advances. A temporary Ukrainian deployment point and an electronic warfare station were also reportedly destroyed in the fighting.

By evening, it became clear that Ukrainian forces could no longer hold even partial control over Fyodorovka. Several Ukrainian soldiers were captured during the final stages of the assault, further weakening Kyiv’s defensive efforts in the area. The fall of Fyodorovka opens a pathway for Russian forces to advance toward Komar, a critical logistical hub for Ukrainian troops in the region. Russian units are already pressuring Komar from the eastern direction of Otradivka, raising the possibility of Ukrainian forces being encircled. This tactic that has previously led to Ukrainian defeat in other settlements on the Velyka Novosilka axis.

The rapid capture of Fyodorovka underscores the increasing pressure Russian forces are applying across the southern Donetsk front. With Ukrainian defenses crumbling under artillery barrages and drone-directed strikes, Moscow’s troops appear poised to expand their control over key supply routes, further complicating Kyiv’s efforts to stabilize the frontline. As fighting continues, the looming battle for Komar could determine whether Ukrainian forces can prevent another Russian breakthrough to the Dnepropetrovsk region or if further retreats will be inevitable.
