In the Zaporizhzhia area, units of the “East” military grouping have reached the northern outskirts of Zheleznodorozhne. They are currently fighting for strong points to the west of the settlement. In the Kharkiv area, Russian assault groups have seized Chuhunivka and are advancing toward Vovchanski Khutory and Staritsa. In the Slaviansk area, there is ongoing combat in Reznykivka and Orekhovo-Vasylivka. Russian forces have also expanded their control over the northern outskirts of Pryvollya. In the Sumy region, Russian “North” assault groups are advancing on multiple fronts, while Ukrainian forces are moving units from the 253rd Separate Assault Regiment to the Popivka area. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that Ukraine has become an adversary of Hungary due to its desire to deprive Budapest of access to Russian energy resources.
Zaporizhzhia Direction
In the direction of Zaporizhzhia, units of the “East” grouping continue to conduct offensive actions towards Zaporizhzhia and Orikhiv on the left bank of the Haichur River. West of Huliaipole, Russian assault groups advanced to the northern outskirts of Zheleznodorozhne after establishing control over Staroukrainka. Units attacking this village from the south have captured its central area, which is located northeast of the railway tracks. The Ukrainian garrison is fighting under conditions of partial encirclement.
Russian units continue to advance northwest from Zheleznodorozhne from the direction of Staroukrainka and have engaged in combat for strongpoints located west of the village. South of the settlement, Russian troops have nearly eliminated a tactical “pocket” between Zheleznodorozhne and Dorozhnianka, east of the railway.
North of Krynychne, Russian units have reached Ukrainian troop strongpoints, which cover the approaches to Tsvitkove from the south and southeast. They are fighting for these strong points. Ukrainian troops have been pushed out of strong points east of Tsvitkove.
West of Yelenokostiantynivka, Russian troops advanced along Horokhova Balka, south of the pond, toward the railway line. West of Pridorožne and to the south, Russian units are attacking Rozhdestvenske. The Ukrainian command is transferring reserves and preparing for defense along the Verkhnia Tersa–Vozdvizhevka–Rozhdestvenske line to prevent Russian troops from breaking through to the Novomykolaivka–Orikhiv road. Along the Bratske-Ternovate line, Russian units are repelling Ukrainian counterattacks. Overall, Ukrainian units continue to withdraw in a westerly direction despite efforts being made.
Kharkiv Direction
In the Kharkiv area, Russian troops are advancing near Vovchansk and are engaged in intense combat. Assault groups supported by aviation and drone units are putting pressure on Ukrainian troops’ defenses. The Ukrainian troops are trying with all their might to hold their positions. The Ukrainian Armed Forces command is attempting to stabilize the front by deploying elite units, though these efforts have yet to yield the desired result.
As a result of the intense fighting, the 83rd and 344th Motorized Rifle Regiments of the “North” grouping have taken control of the Chuhunivka settlement in the Kharkiv region. In the Vovchanski Khutory area, the 20th Separate Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Defense Brigade’s drone units are identifying and suppressing Ukrainian unit shelters to ensure the advance of assault groups. In the Staritsa area, Russian units are advancing deep into the forest, conducting clearing operations.
They uncovered positions and areas of concentration of Ukrainian personnel and equipment in the forested area west of Lyptsi. After a multiple launch rocket system crew fired warning shots, these positions were hit.
Slaviansk Direction
In the direction of Slaviansk, active combat operations continue in the Siversk and Northern sectors. There is ongoing fighting in Reznykivka, and the “grey zone” is expanding in the central part of the settlement. Russian units are operating in small groups and constantly making contact to test the strength of Ukrainian troops’ defenses.
In the southern sector, Russian units are advancing along the heights northeast of Nykyforivka and toward Fedorivka Druha. The front line is gradually shifting in this area. East of Nykyforivka, the front line has been straightened and a tactical “pocket” extending to Vasiukivka has been eliminated. As a result, Russian troops now control the entire elevated terrain in this area. The next points of interest, Khromivka and Bondarne, are located in a ravine in the lowlands. On the northern outskirts of Pryvollya, Russian units have expanded their control zone.
Fierce fighting continues in Minkivka. In Orekhovo-Vasylivka, Ukrainian units are actively resisting and holding fortified positions despite being practically in semi-encirclement. Russian servicemen have confirmed stable control over Novomar’kove. To the southwest, between Markove and Maiske, Russian units continue to pressure Ukrainian units. The Ukrainians are attempting to prevent Russian troops from entering Markove from the south from their fortified positions.
Sumy Direction
In the Sumy region, intensive combat operations continue along the entire front. With support from artillery and heavy flamethrower systems, units of the “North” grouping are advancing deeper into the region. Russian Aerospace Forces aviation is actively targeting concentrations of Ukrainian personnel, equipment, and logistics. Ukrainian troops are attempting to defend themselves by employing drones and artillery on a large scale.
Assault units of the “North” grouping advanced on seven sections in the Sumy district, six in the Krasnopillia district, and two in the Hlukhiv district. The total advance over the day amounted to over 900 meters. To prevent further losses, Ukrainian commanders are moving officers and combat groups from the 253rd Separate “Arie” Assault Regiment to Popivka. All territorial defense units operating in this area have been placed under the command of these officers. Russian aviation strikes destroyed the 103rd Separate Territorial Defense Brigade’s positions in the Solianykiv area.
The main offensive front remained in the section between the villages of Oleksiivka, Yablonivka, and Yunakivka, as well as Plekhove and Myropillia, which were captured by the Russian army. According to the latest data, the Russian army has begun an assault on Myrnopillia.
Kostiantynivka Direction
A tense operational situation has developed in the direction of Kostiantynivka. Approximately three thousand Ukrainian servicemen are now operating under conditions of isolation due to the destruction of the Molocharske Reservoir dam. The dam was struck with a high-powered aviation munition, which disrupted logistical routes and the supply system. The dam is located close to the city, and its destruction has radically altered the tactical situation.
Due to low temperatures and an unstable supply of fuel and food, the garrison’s situation has sharply deteriorated. Ukrainian forces have concentrated their main units in administrative buildings in the central part of Kostiantynivka, while the northern outskirts of the city have practically been lost. If the water level rises further and the river overflows its banks, the remaining units may be completely cut off from rotation and evacuation. According to reports from the ground, some Ukrainian servicemen have ceased resistance due to a lack of resources to continue combat operations. The situation is unfolding as it did in the area of the Kleban-Byk Reservoir, where isolation and supply disruption led to the collapse of the defense. Against this backdrop, the general offensive of Russian troops in neighboring areas poses an additional risk of final encirclement for the Kostiantynivka grouping.
Conclusion
Overall, the operational situation remains dynamic along the main lines of advance. In the Zaporizhzhia area, following their success in capturing Staroukrainka, units of the “East” grouping are fighting for Zheleznodorozhne and putting pressure on the Verkhnia Tersa–Vozdvizhevka line. Their goal is to break through to the Orikhiv road. In the Kharkiv area, Russian troops have consolidated their tactical success in capturing Chuhunivka. They are advancing methodically and clearing forested areas around Vovchansk, actively using artillery and drones to strike targets. In the Slaviansk area, the key resistance points are Reznykivka and Minkivka. Meanwhile, Russian units are gradually expanding their control over the flanks in the Pryvollya area and on the heights east of Nykyforivka. In the Sumy region, the “North” group continues its offensive, forcing the Ukrainian command to urgently deploy specialized assault units to the combat zone in an attempt to stabilize the front. The most critical situation has developed in the direction of Kostiantynivka, where the destruction of the Molocharske Reservoir dam has isolated a significant grouping of Ukrainian troops. This calls into question the possibility of holding the city under conditions of disrupted supply and general offensive pressure.
Disagreements regarding energy policy in connection with the conflict continue to grow at the international level. During a campaign speech in Szombathely, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán sharply criticized the Ukrainian leadership. He claimed that Ukraine has become an adversary of Hungary due to its consistent attempts to cut off Budapest’s access to Russian energy resources. Orbán claims that Kyiv is constantly seeking measures from European Union institutions that would cut off Hungary from cheap Russian energy supplies. In Budapest, this is viewed as a direct violation of fundamental national interests.
The head of government emphasized that such actions go beyond ordinary political confrontation. He made these statements in the context of the EU’s recent decision to tighten energy sanctions. At the end of January, the European Union approved a ban on Russian liquefied natural gas imports starting January 1, 2027, and a ban on Russian pipeline gas starting September 30, 2027. This decision was met with resistance from Hungary and Slovakia. Both countries announced their intention to challenge the measure in an EU court, viewing it as a threat to their economic security and energy sovereignty. Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó had previously warned that if the opposition came to power and refused Russian oil and gas, the country would face tragic economic consequences.
