Russia Says Zelensky Lost Contact With Reality As Army Crushes Ukrainian Troops In Kupyansk (Videos)

On November 5, the Russian military repelled multiple Ukrainian counterattacks inside and near the city of Kupyansk and advanced in other parts of Kharkiv.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said in its daily briefing that the 6th Army, a part of the Zapad [West] Group of Forces, maintained pressure on remaining Ukrainian troops in Kupyansk and repelled four counterattacks launched by multiple formations of Kiev forces, including the 92nd Assault Brigade, the 151st Mechanised Brigade and the 1st National Guard Brigade, close to Monachinovka, Blagodatovka, and Petrovka.

Kiev forces sustained some heavy losses in Kupyansk and in nearby areas over the last 24 hours, according to the ministry.

“Over the past 24 hours, up to 50 troops, 26 pieces of weapons, including one M113 armoured personnel carrier, and one U.S.-made 155-mm Paladin self-propelled artillery system, seven armoured vehicles, two mortars, one lorry, and eight pickup trucks have been neutralized close to Kupyansk,” the ministry said.

Further to the north in Kharkiv, the Sever [North] Group of Forces advanced to the west of Odradne and Bolohivka, reaching the outskirts of Dvurechanske. More than 18,3 square kilometers were reportedly secured by Russian troops.

The Sever Group of Forces also advanced in Vovchansk, entering the southeastern part of the large settlement after cutting the road leading to Bilyi Kolodyaz.

Additional gains were reported to the east of the settlement, with Russian troops capturing more than 5,4 square kilometers near Tykhe.

These successes in Kharkiv came just a day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that only 60 Russian troops remained in Kupyank and that his forces were working to push them out from the city.

These claims, which contradict every report from Russian and Ukrainian media, were slammed by the Russian MoD, which called on remaining Ukrainian troops in Kupyansk to surrender.

“The head of the Kiev regime has completely lost connection with reality and, while listening to the false reports of Syrskyi, has absolutely no control over the operational situation on the ground,” the ministry said in a statement.

“Or, on the contrary, he understands the desperate situation and the real situation of the AFU (Armed Forces of Ukraine) in Kupyansk. Therefore, at the cost of the shameless death of thousands of Ukrainian servicemen in the ‘pockets’, he tries to hide all the truth from the population of Ukraine and his Western sponsors in order to continue to profit from the funds allocated to the war against Russia by European taxpayers,” the ministry added.

“Today, the situation of the AFU groups trapped in the encirclements of Kupyansk and Krasnoarmeysk [Pokrovsk], which continue to suffer significant losses from strikes and advance of the Russian troops, is rapidly deteriorating, leaving no chance for Ukrainian servicemen to save themselves, except voluntarily surrender,” it concluded.

All in all, Kiev is heading towards a harsh defeat in Kupyansk. Once the city is captured, the Russian military will likely expand its control to the north and south along the Oskil River. Struggling with a shortage of manpower, Kiev forces will not likely be able to hold to the front in that part of Kharkiv.
