In a decisive response to Ukraine’s intensified drone attacks on Russian civilian areas, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have launched a series of high-precision strikes targeting Ukrainian military infrastructure and defense industry facilities. The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) confirmed that these operations are strictly retaliatory, aimed at degrading Kyiv’s combat capabilities while avoiding indiscriminate attacks on civilian zones, a stark contrast to Ukraine’s tactics.
The latest wave of strikes comes after Moscow’s attempt to revive peace negotiations was met with a sharp increase in Ukrainian drone assaults on Russian territory. According to the Russian MoD, 2,331 Ukrainian drones were intercepted between May 20 and 27, with 1,465 shot down outside the special military operation zone. These attacks resulted in civilian casualties, including women and children, prompting Russia’s systematic dismantling of Ukraine’s war machine.

May 23: A devastating missile attack on Odessa port destroyed 100 containers carrying components for naval drones, UAVs, and ammunition. Ukrainian drone bases in Zaporizhzhia and Kirovohrad regions (Kanatovo airfield), ammo depots in Kharkiv region were also hit.

In addition, radio intelligence and satellite communications centers in the Kiev region, a combat boat parking lot and an assembly shop for unmanned boats in the Mykolaiv region, infrastructure facilities at the Shkolny airfield in the Odessa region and the Vishnevoye field airfield in the Kharkiv region were astruck.
