Russian Army Advances In Vovchansk, Ukraine Murders Own Troops Near Kupyansk (Videos, Photos)

On October 25, the Russian military advanced in Vovchansk, and made a breakthrough close to Kupyansk as Ukraine stepped up efforts to prevent its troops from abandoning their positions in the Khakriv direction.

The Sever [North] Group of Forces has reportedly advanced in the western part of Vovchansk, mainly along the streets of Obozna and Zaliznychna. Russian troops are close to blocking the southern entrance of the key settlement, which would prevent Ukraine from sending supplies from Bilyi Kolodyaz.

The troops also advanced to the west of Vovchansk, capturing territories between Synelnykove and nearby forest after clashing with Kiev forces.

Ukraine is about to lose control of Vovchansk. From there, the Sever Group of Forces will likely advance to Vovchans’ki Khutory, before possibly launching an attack further to the east along the border with the Belgorod region to link up with Dehtyarne.

Moving to the south in Kharkiv, the Zapad [West] Group of Forces continue to battle Kiev forces inside Kupyansk and in nearby areas.

Most of the city is already under the control of Russian troops. Ukraine is doing everything possible to force its troops to fight there.

Citing Russian security sources, TASS reported that a force from the National Guard of Ukraine recently killed several Ukrainian soldiers from the 144th Separate Infantry Brigade after they attempted to withdraw from a position close to Kupyansk.

“At least six personnel of the 144th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, recently deployed to the Kharkiv region, were killed by militants of the National Guard of Ukraine. Snipers and UAV [Unmanned Aerial Vehicle] operators were working on the soldiers who tried to retreat from their positions,” a text message sent by the sources to TASS reads.

The sources revealed that the 144th brigade was recently sent to replace the 114th brigade of the territorial defense, which was withdrawn after a conflict with the national guard.

Despite these desperate attempts, Ukrainian defense appears to be collapsing. A breakthrough by the Zapad Group of Forces was reported to the southeast of Kupyansk, with footage posted to social networks showing troops raising the Russian flag over a building in Kurylivka. If confirmed, the capture of the settlement could mark the beginning of an unorganized retreat by Kiev forces from the pocket to the east of the Oskil River.

All in all, Kiev forces are failing to hold onto their defenses in all areas in Kharkiv. The situation is expected to worsen once Kupyansk is fully secured by the Russian military.
