Russian Army Captures Vishneve Near Yanchur, Expands Control In Pokrovsk (Videos)

On October 29, the Russian military captured another key settlement along the Yanchur River in Dnepropetrovsk, and expanded its control in the city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk, putting Kiev forces in a difficult position in both directions.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the capture of Vishneve in Dnepropetrovsk by the Vostok [East] Group of Forces.

The attack on the settlement was reportedly led by the 36th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade. The unit secured an area of ten square kilometers, including 280 buildings, and destroyed up to a company of Ukrainian personnel in addition to 25 military vehicles in the course of the attack.

From the settlement and nearby Yehorivka, which had been already captured, Russian troops will likely advance to the west, towards Danylivka and Ostapivske, in order to reach the area where the Yanchur splits off from the Haichur River. Later, the troops could launch an offensive southwards along the Haichur, with the ultimate goal of reaching Huliapole, one of Kiev forces main remaining strongholds in Zaporizhzhia.

Before such a maneuver, the Vostok Group of Forces will likely work to clear all the area along the Yanchur in Zaporizhzhia. This would require securing Rybne, Krasnohirske and Uspenivka. Russian troops are already attacking all three settlements.

Notably, the Russian success along the Yanchur was facilitated by a surprise attack on Mala Tokmachka near Orikhiv, as well as another push between Stepnohirsk and Prymorske. These moves by the Vostok Group of Forces distracted Kiev forces in Zaporizhzhia and Dnepropetrovsk.

Moving to Donetsk to the east, the situation of Kiev forces is even worse. The Tsentr [Center] Group of Forces is rapidly expanding its control in Pokrovsk and nearby areas.

Russian troops have reportedly reached the sign of Pokrovsk to the west of the city. They also stormed Hnativka in the city’s eastern outskirts. All of this took place as the troops continued to advance to the north of the railway in the heart of Pokrovsk.

In Myrnohrad, right to the east of Pokrovsk, the Tsentr Group of Forces also made gains. Russian troops expanded their control in the Molodyozhny microdistrict in the eastern part of the large settlement. Advance was also reported near mines number five and six.

It’s worth noting that Ukrainian troops remain blocked in several parts of Pokrovsk, as well as in some parts of Myrnohrad and areas further to the south.

Ukrainian defenses in Pokrovsk have clearly begun to collapse. However, Kiev appears to have opted to fight there to the end instead of ordering an organized withdrawal to save its forces. Kiev is even reported to be sending more reinforcements to the city.

The decision to keep fighting in the city will likely allow the Russian military to advance faster in Zaporizhzhia, Dnepropetrovsk and several other directions.
