Russian forces have taken control of the main Ukrainian supply routes leading into Dobropolye in the Donetsk region and are continuing attacks on Kyiv troops in the area, Russia’s Defense Ministry said on September 25 as it released footage showing drone and rocket strikes.
The ministry said units of the Tsentr [Central] Grouping of Forces were maintaining round-the-clock surveillance of the routes into Dobropolye with drones, allowing them to detect and stop attempts by Kyiv forces to move through or break out of the area.
“The Dobropolye settlement in the Donetsk People’s Republic is a heavily fortified area of the Ukrainian armed forces and an important transport hub,” the ministry said, according to TASS.
The ministry noted that one of the main supply routes for Kyiv forces from the Dnipropetrovsk region passes through the area.
In a video released separately from the statement showed drone units from the 61st Marine Brigade of the Central Grouping striking Ukrainian temporary deployment areas and firing positions around Dobropolye.
The ministry said in a brief statement attached to the footage that the marines had thwarted attempts by Ukraine’s 4th and 15th National Guard brigades to break out of the area.
In another video, a TOS-2 Tosochka thermobaric multiple-launch rocket system operated by a unit of Russia’s radiation, chemical and biological protection troops hit what the ministry identified as a Ukrainian command post close to Dobropolye.
The ministry also released footage of a Grad multiple rocket launcher from the 177th Guards Marine Regiment firing on what it described as a Ukrainian temporary deployment area near the city.
The fighting around Dobropolye is part of Russia’s ongoing offensive in Donetsk, where Russian forces are seeking to break through toward the region’s main Ukrainian defensive belt farther west. Moscow has described the area as an important logistics hub for Ukrainian forces and has said pressure there is intended to disrupt their supply lines and limit their ability to reinforce the front.
