On November 18, the Russian military expanded its control in a key settlement in Dnepropetrovsk and advanced closer to the city of Huliapole in Zaporozhye.
In Dnepropetrovsk, the Vostok [East] Group of Forces expanded its control in Novopavlivka, with preliminary reports indicating that the entire northern part of the large settlement had been secured. Russian troops also captured a large area in the western part of the city after crossing the Solena River.
Kiev forces are, however, still fighting in the southeastern outskirts of the settlement. Thus, fighting could continue there for days, if not weeks.
The drone units of the Vostok Group of Forces have been playing a key role in the battle for Novopavlivka. Any movement by Kiev forces near the settlement is being targeted.
To the southwest in Zaporozhye, the Vostok Group of Forces made additional gains amid a collapse in Ukrainian defenses near Huliapole.
Russian troops are reported to be close to securing Vesele and Zelenyi Hai to the east of the city. Vysoke, a little to the south, is facing increasing pressure.
However, the most important breakthrough to the east of Huliapole took place in Zatyshshya. The Vostok Group of Forces managed to the settlement, the last urban center before the city. Ukrainian troops have begun to flee from the settlement and all nearby areas, according to video footage posted to social networks.
The Vostok Group of Forces could reach the outskirts of Huliapole within a few days, and the battle of the city is almost guaranteed to start before the end of the year.
It’s worth noting that the collapse of Ukrainian defenses in the area to the north of Huliapole, specifically along the Haichur River, has already begun.
All in all, the situation of Kiev forces between Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye is getting worse every single day. Ukraine is doing nothing to change this, likely because it does not have the resources, specifically the manpower, needed to make an impact. Despite heading towards a sure defeat, Kiev maintains the same political stance, refusing to make any form of concessions.
