Russian Army Increases Pressure On Pokrovsk, Captures Another Town Along Yanchur River (Videos)

On October 24, the Russian military increased pressure on Ukrainian troops in the city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk, capturing a nearby town, and made additional gains along the Yanchur River in Dnepropetrovsk.

In Donetsk, the Tsentr [Center] Group of Forces captured Promin just a few kilometers to the southeast of Pokrovsk. This was the last urban center under the control of Kiev forces to the east of Myrnohrad. After capturing the settlement, Russian troops will likely expand operations within Myrnohrad, as well as to the south of Pokrovsk, mainly between Sukhyi Yar and Lysivka.

Ukrainian defenses in Pokrovsk itself appear to be collapsing. The Tsentr Group of Forces is reported to be in control of all areas to the south of the railroad that splits the city in half.

Russian troops have already begun advancing north of the railroad, mainly in the buildings located right north of the train station.

Despite the nearing Russian victory in Pokrovsk, Ukraine continues to send reinforcements into the city instead of ordering an organized withdrawal to save resources.

To the west in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukrainian defenses continue to collapse along the Yanchur River. The Vostok [East] Group of Forces captured Zlahoda, also known as Pershotravnevoye, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. The attack on the settlement was led by the 64th Separate Motorised Rifle Brigade.

“As a result of fierce fighting, the servicemen from the Russian Far East took the enemy’s area of defence under control. Its length was more than four kilometres,” the ministry said in a brief statement.

“The Vostok Group’s units took hold of the Yanchur River west bank contributing to the further offensive in Dnepropetrovsk direction,” it added.

During the battle in Zlahoda, Russian troops neutralized two platoons of Kiev forces and 18 armored vehicles of various types.

It’s worth noting that the Vostok Group of Forces is already advancing in Yehorivka further to the north in Dnepropetrovsk along the Yanchur. To the south along the river in Zaporozhye, Rybne, Pryvil’n and Uspenivka are also under attack and will likely be captured soon.

Once all of these settlements are secured, Russian troops will likely advance along the river to its start near Ostapivs’ke. From there, they could cut the main route leading to Huliapole, a stronghold of Kiev forces, and advance south along the Haichur River.

Kiev forces in Zaporozhye are already distracted by the ongoing Russian attack in Mala Tokmachka near Orikhiv, and another between Stepnohirsk and Prymorske further to the west. Thus, a maneuver between the Yanchur and Haichur has high chances of succeeding.

Overall, Ukraine appears to be about to lose Pokrovsk, and heading towards a collapse from Dnepropetrovsk to Zaporozhye. Unless a large-scale counterattack is being secretly prepared by Kiev forces somewhere between these directions, the Russian military will likely continue to advance.
