The advance of the Russian military in the directions of South Donetsk and Zaporozhye is speeding up, with the Ministry of Defense announcing the capture of two more settlements from Kiev forces on September 19.
The ministry said that the Tsentr [Center] Group of Forces imposed control of Muravka, located right on the administrative border between Donetsk and Dnepropetrovsk. The settlement was captured following fierce clashes that in some cases saw Russian troops advancing on foot to blow up Ukrainian trenches and fortifications.
The capture of the settlement will give the Russian military the ability to advance in Dnepropetrovsk from a completely new direction.
From Muravka, Russian troops could directly launch attacks towards Biliaivka, located right to the northwest of the settlement. Another option will be to directly advance towards Novopavlivka in the west and southwest, tightening pressure on Kiev forces there.
Meanwhile in Dnepropetrovsk, Russian troops reportedly repelled three Ukrainian counter attacks that targeted their positions in Berezove and the eastern outskirts of Kalynovske. Despite the Ukrainian pressure, the troops went on to make more gains in the area between the two settlements. In addition, a push was reported from Zelenyi Hai towards Ivanivka.
Right to the south in Zaporozhye, the ministry said that the Vostok [East] Group of Forces captured Novoivanovka. Quickly after the announcement, more advance was reported to the north of the settlement, as well as to the west of it, mainly towards Novohryhorivka.
Further to the south in the same direction, more Russian advances were reported near Novoivanovka, Olgovka, and Malinovka, with Russian troops approaching Poltavka. A breakthrough in this direction could seriously weaken the defensive stance of Kiev forces to the east of Huliapole.
Close to Orikhov, to the west, heavy clashes continued, but no major change in control was reported by either side during the day.
However, further to the west in Zaporozhye, the Russian military made more gains in the southern outskirts of Prymorske. Russian troops also expanded their control in Stepnohorsk. A Push to the east of Stepnohorsk is to be expected, although a complete breakthrough remains unlikely to happen too soon there.
Drone operators of the Vostok Group of Forces inflicted heavy losses on Kiev forces between Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye, according to newly released videos.
All in all, the advance of the Russian military is clearly speeding up in the directions of South Donetsk and Zaporozhye, with increasing focus on Dnepropetrovsk. Ukrainian attempts to counterattack have been so far completely ineffective. The situation of Kiev forces is expected to get even worse across all directions in the special military operation zone as those in charge are yet to find a real solution for the shortage in manpower.
