The Russian military continued to advance between Seversk and Liman in the Donetsk direction by October 4, despite facing resistance from Kiev forces.
Video footage confirmed that the Yug [South] Group of Forces has taken over Fedorivka, located to the south of Fedorivka, although the capture of the settlement is yet to be officially announced by the Russian Ministry of Defense. Russian troops are likely still working to fully secure their new positions there.
With Fedorivka under control, Russian troops renewed their push from Pereizne towards Zanivka, the last settlement before the southwestern outskirts of Seversk. Advance from Vyimka also continues, although Kiev forces appear to be holding onto their positions there.
To the northeast of Seversk, Russian troops have taken over nearly all of the area along mine Number 6. According to preliminary reports, they are just one step away from reaching the first houses in the streets of Donetskaya and Partizanskaya to the north of the city.
Meanwhile, heavy fighting with Kiev forces is reported in Dronivka to the northwest of Seversk. The Yug Group of Forces is reported to be facing fierce resistance there. Work is underway to destroy all Ukrainian fortifications around the settlement, mainly using TOS thermobaric rocket launchers.
Russian troops also continue to battle Kiev forces in Yampil and nearby forested areas. Ukrainian troops are using drones more than before in an attempt to slow down the Russian advance.
The fall of Yampil would be catastrophic for the Ukrainian defensive posture between Seversk and Liman to the north, as the settlement oversees the main supply route linking the two key cities.
The Yug Group of Forces is already closing down on Liman. Major gains were reported to the north and northwest of Zarichne, located to the east of the city. In addition, Russian troops are reported to have made some measurable gains to the north and northeast of Stavky. This is the last settlement before the northeastern outskirts of Liman. It will likely come under attack soon.
To the northwest of Liman, Russian troops are reportedly expanding their control around Derylove and Shandryholove. They are slowly, but surely advancing in Novoselivka.
While Kiev forces managed to slow down Russian advance in some areas like Dronivka and Yampil, this clearly came at the expanse of Seversk itself and the area to the east and northeast of Liman. This goes to show that Ukraine is suffering from serious shortages, especially when it comes to manpower. Kiev attempts to patch this area or that, will eventually lead to the complete destruction of its forces between the two cities.
