The Sever Group of Forces inflicted more losses on Ukraine’s 22nd, 41st, and 115th mechanized brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, 82nd and 95th air assault brigades as well as on the 112th and 129th territorial defense brigades close to the settlements of Lyubimovka, Daryino, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Pokrovsky and Borki in the Kursk region, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced in its September 14 briefing.
The group also repelled five counter-attacks by Kiev forces close to the settlements of Maryevka, Lyubimovka, Obukhovka and Russkaya Konopelka, the ministry said in the briefing, noting that attempts to launch an attack near the settlements of Obukhovka and Borki were also foiled.
“The enemy suffered losses of up to 30 people killed and wounded; one armored fighting vehicle and one motor vehicle were destroyed,” the ministry added.
In addition, the group foiled five Ukrainian attempts to break through the Russian border close to the settlements of Novy Put, Medvezhye and Vesyoloye, according to the ministry.
“The enemy’s losses included up to 40 troops killed and wounded; two tanks, one armored personnel carrier, five armored fighting vehicles, one motor vehicle, and one counter obstacle vehicle were destroyed,” the ministry said.
The ministry also announced that Russian air and artillery strikes hit troops and equipment of the 22nd, 61st, 115th mechanized brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, 80th and 95th air assault brigades and the 129th Territorial Defence Brigade near the settlements of Borki, Guyevo, Zelyony Shlyakh, Kolmakov, Kruglenkoye, Ivashkovsky, Malaya Loknya, Martynovka, Mirny, Makhnovka, Russkoye Porechnoye, Novoivanovka, Plekhovo, Pokrovsky, Uspenovka and Yuzhny.
Other strikes targeted, according to the ministry, gatherings of the 21st, 22nd, 41st, and 61st mechanized brigades, 82nd Air Assault Brigade, 92nd Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 1st Presidential Brigade, as well as the 101st, 103rd, 106th, and 119th territorial defence brigades of the AFU near Akhtyrka, Belopolye, Banichi, Vodolagi, Obody, Katerinovka, Radkovka, Sumy, Pavlovka, Svessa, Shostka, Yastrebinoye, and Yampol.
“Over the past 24 hours, the AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine] losses have amounted to more than 300 troops and 15 units of hardware, including two tanks, one armored personnel carrier, 12 armored fighting vehicles as well as two artillery guns, one counter-obstacle vehicle, and five motor vehicles,” the ministry said, adding that “five AFU servicemen were taken prisoner.”
Russian media videos showing some of the recent strikes that targeted troops, equipment and positions of Kiev forces in the direction of Kursk.
Kiev forces launched a surprise attack from Sumy into Kursk in August. The Russian military attack began earlier this week and has already made some serious progress.
According to the Russian MoD, since the start of the battle in Kursk Kiev forces have lost 13,100 troops, 110 tanks, 44 infantry fighting vehicles, 87 armored personnel carriers, 703 armored fighting vehicles, 423 motor vehicles, 95 artillery guns, 26 launchers, including seven American-made HIMARS and five MLRS systems, eight air defense systems, two transport-loading vehicles, 26 electronic warfare stations, seven counter-battery radars, two aerial radars, 13 engineering vehicles, including six counter obstacle vehicles and one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle.
