On the night of March 12, Russian forces launched routine strikes on the Ukrainian military facilities throughout the country. The targets included logistics hubs, military-industrial facilities, points of manpower deployment and areas of deployment of air defense systems.
Russian strikes were reported in the Ternopil, Lviv, Kharkiv, Khmelnitsky, Kiev, Odessa regions. According to local reports, Ukrainian air defenses were not active only in the Volyn, Transkarpathian, Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi regions.
Russian drones struck several large facilities of the fuel and energy complex in Western Ukraine. One of the targets was the the local oil depot belonging to the Lukoil-Ukraine company in Kremenets in the Ternopil region. As a result of the precision strike, a large fire broke out in the area, which was seen for several tens of kilometers.
The second target were the tanks of the Galneftegaz oil depot located in the town of Brody in the Lviv region. The facility was struck by at least two Russian UAVs. This large oil depot is playing an important role in the supply of fuel and lubricants to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Amid the ongoing Russian operations on the eastern and southern frontlines, the Ukrainian military command was forced to sent additional Soviet and NATO air defense systems closer to the battlefields in an attempt to strengthen Ukrainian defense. As a result, strategic military and industrial facilities in the Ukrainian rear remained without the descent protection and Russian precision strikes result in growing losses. At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are losing more and more precious air defense systems which cannot hide from Russian fire near the battlefields.
