Russian KUB-BLA Kamikaze Drones Hit Ukrainian Military Posts (Videos)

On October 19 and 20, Sputnik and other Russian news sources shared two videos documenting recent strikes with KUB-BLA loitering munitions on the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

The first video shows a strike on a fortified position of the AFU on an unedified front. The loitering munition scores a direct hit and as a result ammunition which were stored at the position exploded.

The second video documents a strike on personnel of the AFU who were moving military equipment in Mykolaiv region. The loitering munition strike damaged at least two vehicles.

The KUB-BLA is made by the ZALA Aero Group, a s subsidiary of Russian defense giant Kalashnikov. The loitering munition was especially designed to engage static targets, like gatherings of manpower and fortified positions.

The loitering munition has an operational range of 40-60 kilometers, an endurance of 30 minutes and a speed of 80 to 130 kilometers per hour. The KUB-BLA is armed with a HE-Frag [high explosive fragmentation] warhead that weights three kilograms. The warhead explodes over the target with the help of a proximity fuze. This maximizes the damage inflicted on the target.

The Russian military has been using the KUB-BLA and other types of loitering munitions since the beginning of its special operation in Ukraine. In the last few weeks, these systems inflicted heavy human and material losses on the AFU.
