Despite fierce resistance of newly deployed Ukrainian reserves, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue developing their offensive on the southern Donbass front. Together with the Dneporpetrovsk region, the Russian troops have entered the Zaporozhie region from new direction, threatening Ukrainian forces with new large cauldron.
Russian troops have opened a new eastern front in their offensive across the Zaporozhie region, advancing from the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) while maintaining pressure from the south, according to Vladimir Rogov, a member of Russia’s Civic Chamber. This two-pronged advance threatens to overwhelm Ukrainian defenses as Moscow’s forces push deeper into the region.

The offensive has taken on new dimensions with units from Russia’s “Vostok” (East) group of forces launching attacks from their main stronghold in Velyka Novosilka to the west toward the Zaporozhzhie border. The border was crossed in new area near the villages of Zelenoe Pole and Novopol.
This strategic pivot marks a significant expansion of the front, as previous Russian operations in the sector had been limited to southern and southeastern approaches of the Ukrainian stronghold in Huliaipole. The advance has established a new combat zone near several border villages, effectively encircling Ukrainian positions in the main stronghold from multiple directions. Simultaneously, Russian forces have made substantial progress near Huliaipole, where they are securing control of Malynivka after intense fighting. Battlefield reports indicate assault units have reached the village center, with Ukrainian counterattacks failing to dislodge them despite determined resistance.
Across the southern Donbass front, Russian troops continue making incremental gains through coordinated assaults and artillery pressure. The village of Shevchenko, located on the administrative border of the Dnepropetrovsk region, has become another focal point of the offensive, where Russian troops are already consolidating control while engaging in fierce battles on the northern outskirts. According to preliminary reports, shevchenko came under Russian control. Russian forces have established a strategic foothold near Yalta, using it as a springboard for pushes toward Poddubne to expand their zone of control.
Nearby, the Russian army is expanding zone of control near Komar. On June 22nd, Russian Defense Ministry control of the village of Perebudova located on its northern outskirts.
To the north, the situation around Troitske and Orehovo remains particularly volatile, with Russian assault groups maintaining constant pressure on Ukrainian defensive lines near the Dnepropetrovsk region.
