On the night of October 1, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched another wave of strikes in Ukrainian rear regions. Explosions thundered across the country, including in Poltava, Cherkassy, Kirovograd, Mykolaiv regions. Hideouts of Ukrainian reserves came under attacks in the border Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
One of Russian precision strikes destroyed another Ukrainian military echelon. This is the third Russian attack on the Ukrainian military trains and railway infrastructure in recent days. Today, Russian Tornado-S MLRS struck the Udachnaya railway station located on the southwestern outskirts of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
The attack resulted in large fire in the area. The local reports claimed that the strike was launched at the site where fuel was being shipped from the train. The footage available online confirmed that echelon carrying fuel was destroyed.
As a result of the attack, three diesel fuel tanks caught fire. At least four fuel trucks were destroyed. The railway infrastructure was also heavily damaged in the area. In particular, the local electric traction substation that is providing power supply for railway traffic and surrounding settlements was damaged.
The Ukrainian military was forced to deploy the fire-fighting train to eliminate the consequences. The strikes at the railway station inflicted heavy damage to Ukrainian military logistics along the entire front. The city of Pokrovsk is an important logistics hub in Eastern Ukraine, and the Russian troops are already approaching the city on the ground, pounding Ukrainian military reserves and military equipment accumulated in the area.
The destroyed military echelon was reportedly destroyed on its way to the southern Ugledar direction, where the Russian Army took control of the strategically important city of Ugledar. The carried fuel was aimed at supplying the 72nd brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is hastily reinforcing new lines of defense northwest of the city.
