The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continues to sustain losses as a result of attacks carried out by ISIS cells in the country’s central region.
On July 6, two Syrian service members were killed and eight others were wounded when a bus carrying them came under attack near the town of al-Sukhnah in the eastern Homs countryside. ISIS terrorists targeted the bus with an improvised explosive device.
On The same day, the terrorists ambushed a patrol of the SAA in the area of Huribat near al-Sukhnah. Several soldiers were killed. Four others were captured by the terrorists. However, the captives were quickly freed by a force from the Palestinian al-Quds Brigade.

In what appears to be a response to ISIS recent attacks, warplanes of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out more than 45 airstrikes on ISIS hideouts in central Syria on July 6 and 7.
The terrorist group’s attacks didn’t hinder the operations of the SAA. Army troops are currently combing the outskirts of the towns of al-Shakusiyah and Rahjan in the eastern countryside of Hama.
ISIS insurgency in central Syria will not likely end anytime soon. Nevertheless, the threat posed by the terrorist group is today contained to some extent. The group’s cells are not moving and operating in the region with much freedom like before.
