Supporters Of YPG Held Protest In Front Of Russian Observation Post In Kobani (Video)

Supporters of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) held a protest in the front of a Russian observation post in the northern Syrian town of Kobani (Ayn al-Arab). Protesters demonstrated their discontent with the supposed lack of the Russian reaction to a recent Turkish drone strike on a YPG-affilated target in northern Syria.

On June 23, a Turkish combat drone struck a house the village of Helince, southeast of Kobani in northeast Aleppo. The strike killed Zahra Barkal, an official in the SDF-run Self-Administration in North and Northeast Syria, and 2 other people.

While actions of Turkey and pro-Turkish forces in northeastern Syria are not a secret, it remains unclear why Kurdish protesters feel themselves unhappy with the presence of Russian forces there. When the US administration abandonned its ‘local partners’ from the SDF and the YPG and allowed the Turkish Army to crush them with a large-scale military operation, it was the Russians that came and rescued the Kurds.

Almost immediately after this, the SDF, the YPG and their leaers once again rushed to ask money and weapons from their US masters and demonstrated a hostile attitude towards Moscow and Damascus. So, if the YPG, the SDF and their supporters are so happy to sell their homeland to the US, they probably should ask the US to demonstrate some ‘reaction’ to Turkish actions against them. Nonetheless, they know that the US cares about its own interests only (the occupation of Syrian oil resources for example) and thus every time when they want to be really protected, they beg for this from Russia.
