On January 10, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) targeted a military vehicle of Jaysh al-Izza in the outskirt of the town of al-Lataminah in the northern Hama countryside with an armed drone. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the attack destroyed the vehicle and injured several militants.

Prior to the drone attack, the army artillery fired 20 shells at positions of the militants inside and around al-Lataminah. The SOHR said that the shelling didn’t result in civilian casualties.

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said that the strikes were a response to new violations of the Russian-Turkish demilitarized zone agreement. Such violations have become a daily occurrence.

Jaysh al-Izza, which is responsible for most of these violations, is considered one of the key allies of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). Now that the radical group has imposed control of all the opposition-held part of northwestern Syria, the number of violations will likely increase.
