The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies are preparing for a military operation in Idlib if militants continue to oppose their withdrawal from the demilitarized zone established by the Turkish-Russian agreement, Iran’s Fras News reported.

“The army detected terrorists’ bases and positions, in which heavy weapons are deployed in Idlib province.

The army has specified the strongholds of heavy arms, tanks, cannons, missiles and mortar launchers in demilitarized zone mentioned in Sochi Agreement.

In the meantime, a field commander said that the terrorists are still reinvigorating their positions and are dispatching more military hardware to the demilitarized zone, adding the terrorists have continued targeting the Syrian army, and government forces are ready to counter them.

The commander said that a group of Ajnad al-Sham, deployed near a Turkish monitoring post in the small town of Sarman, pounded the Syrian Army positions in the town of Kafraya in Eastern Idlib, pursued by a heavy fight between the army and the terrorists,” Fars News’ article reads.

More and more reports appear that Turkey had failed to convince radical militant groups to withdraw members and weapons from the  positions in the Idlib demilitarized zone. While official Ankara says that the situation is under control, it seems that it is not. This is why the schedule of a full implementation of the demilitarizen zone has been already delayed. Furthermore, no progress in the direction has been recently observed.
