The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are preparing to announce the end of their operation against ISIS after evacuating tens of thousands of civilians and terrorists from the group’s last stronghold in the middle Euphrates River Valley, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on March 6.
“The SDF is waiting on the frontlines, in the end of the safe route, to evacuate the remaining ISIS fighters and their families,” the SOHR’s report reads.
A day earlier, the SDF announced that it had evacuated 3,500 people, including 500 terrorists, from the ISIS-held pocket. The US-backed group also freed 5 of its fighters, who were captured by the terrorist group during the clashes around the town of Hajin in late 2018.

According to the SOHR, the SDF has evacuated more than 57,000 people from the last ISIS stronghold in the Euphrates Valley since last December. The number includes 6,040 terrorists, most of them are foreigners.
The SDF resumed its attack on the remaining ISIS positions last week. However, the available information indicates that the Kurdish-backed group has put its attack on halt once again in order to evacuate people willing to leave the terrorist group’s territory.
