Syrian Democratic Forces Launch Security Operations In Southeastern Deir Ezzor Following Large Bombing

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) security forces (Asayish) launched a security operation against ISIS cells and sympathizers in the town of al-Busayrah in the southeastern Deir Ezzor countryside, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on July 7. During the operation, many suspects were arrested by Asayish.

According to the pro-opposition monitoring group the operation is a response to a bombing, which targeted a checkpoint of the SDF in al- Busayrah on July 6. Eleven fighters of the SDF and eight civilians were reportedly killed as a result of the incident.

Kurdish activists and the SOHR accused ISIS of standing behind the bombing in the al-Busayrah. However, the terrorist group has not claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Recently, ISIS cells began conducting operations in the SDF-held areas in eastern Syria. US-backed forces launched several security operations in many areas, including the city of Raqqa, in order to contain this threat. However, these operations appear to be ineffective enough.
