United States President Donald Trump on January 28 warned Iran that “time is running out and that the next attack will be “far worse” than the one carried out by Israel last year.
Earlier this month, Trump threatened military action if Iran killed protesters or carried out mass executions of prisoners, but he backed down soon after, claiming the Islamic Republic halted the hangings of 800 detainees. Still, he ordered the deployment of additional U.S. military assets into the Middle East.
“A massive Armada is heading to Iran,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “It is moving quickly, with great power, enthusiasm, and purpose. It is a larger fleet, headed by the great Aircraft Carrier Abraham Lincoln, than that sent to Venezuela. Like with Venezuela, it is, ready, willing, and able to rapidly fulfill its mission, with speed and violence, if necessary.”
Trump also said that he hopes that Tehran will “quickly ‘Come to the Table’ and negotiate a fair and equitable deal – NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS – one that is good for all parties.”
“Time is running out, it is truly of the essence!” Trump stressed. “As I told Iran once before, MAKE A DEAL!”
“They didn’t, and there was ‘Operation Midnight Hammer,’ a major destruction of Iran,” he wrote, referring to the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities at the end of Israel’s 12-day war with Iran last June.
“The next attack will be far worse! Don’t make that happen again. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” he concluded.
The USS Abraham Lincoln and its carrier strike group arrived in the Middle East earlier this week, according to the U.S. Central Command.
Fresh satellite images from China’s MizarVision also showed three littoral combat ships and two Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers docked in Bahrain’s Salman Port. Many other warships, including at least one nuclear attack submarine, are believed to be in the region.

In addition to warships and air defenses, the U.S. recently deployed fighter jets to the Middle East, including at least one squadron of F-15s at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. The total number of warplanes deployed across bases in the region could be well over a hundred.
The U.S. is clearly gearing up for an all-out war, and despite Trump’s call for a deal, American officials told Axios on January 28 that there are no serious negotiations between the two sides at the movement.
Countries including Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar have been talking to both the U.S. and Iran and passing messages, according to the U.S. news website.
It’s worth noting that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman told Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during a call a day earlier that he will not allow attacks on Iran to be launched from its soil.
After the Saudi call, the Iranian foreign ministry said “the two sides warned of the dangerous consequences of any escalation of tensions in the region for regional peace and stability, and emphasized the shared responsibility of all countries in the region, as well as the need for joint efforts to preserve stability and security in the region.”
The cautious stance of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, and even the United Arab Emirates, which also said that it will not allow any attacks from its soil, will not likely stop the Trump administration.
When Israel attacked Iran last year, it didn’t need the direct support of any of these countries, and soon the U.S. will have enough forces in the Middle East to attack the Islamic Republic on its own.
