The National Front for Liberation (NFL) announced on August 9 that its militants had raided a position of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in Rashu hill in northern Lattakia.
In a short press release, the Turkish-backed coalition claimed that its fighters killed a Syrian officer and nine soldiers during the raid.
Pro-government sources didn’t report any attack on any SAA position in Lattakia. Furthermore, there was no reports of any army losses in the governorate in the last 48 hours. This suggest that the NFL’s claims are false.
Formed in mid-2018 with direct support from Turkeys, the NFL became a close ally of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). The coalition is currently supporting the terrorist group’s operations against government forces in Greater Idlib.
The NFL’s claims are likely just an attempt to raise the morale of its supporters, especially after the recent SAA advance in northern Hama.
