There were Ukrainian UAV strikes on a sanatorium and a school in Crimea. Anti-war protests in Poland. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are facing a growing operational crisis in the Huliaipole area.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have been accused of striking civilian targets.

On Sunday evening, 21 September, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked civilian infrastructure on the southern coast of Crimea with drones carrying high-explosive warheads. The Foros sanatorium and a secondary school were attacked. Three people were killed at the sanatorium and 16 others were injured. Fortunately, there were no children in the school building as it was a day off on Sunday.

Clearly, none of the targets hit can be classified as military objectives, indicating the terrorist nature of the attack.

The political situation.

On 21 September, a rally was held in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, under the slogan ‘Poland for Peace!’, to demonstrate the population’s unwillingness to be drawn into the conflict in Ukraine. Despite the country’s leadership actively supporting the Kyiv regime, the rally showed that ordinary citizens do not want tensions to escalate.

It is worth noting that Poland is one of the most popular destinations for Ukrainian migrants. Many of them remain in Poland after crossing the border, which puts additional strain on the budget and therefore on taxpayers. At the same time, some Ukrainian arrivals do not seek employment, instead living off state benefits and volunteer assistance.

Sumy sector – Ukrainian troops launched a local offensive against Russian Armed Forces positions in the Sumy region. Attacks were reported in the Stepove (Leninske) area, as well as in the Andreevka and Yunakivka areas. The objectives were not achieved.

Chernihiv sector – Despite the absence of large units and formations in this area, the opposing sides continue to conduct drone operations at a relatively high intensity. In the vicinity of Pogoreltsy in the Chernihiv region, Russian army units destroyed several pieces of Ukrainian Armed Forces engineering equipment with Lancet UAVs.

Kharkiv sector – Despite the relatively low intensity of fighting in the Kharkiv region, Russian assault groups continued their offensive operations. A change in the tactical situation was noted in the Volchansk area, where Russian Armed Forces units took control of an oil extraction plant. If Ukrainian troops are unable to prevent this advance, the Russians will be able to establish a foothold in the forest to the southeast of the city.

Seversk sector – Intense fighting continues in this area. The Russian Armed Forces are stepping up their efforts to encircle the city of Seversk. Over the past 24 hours, Russian assault troops have advanced in the Serebryanka and Seversky Donets area, near the Seversky salient. Fighting has begun in Pereezdny, stretching 3.5 km in a straight line from Serebryanka to Seversk. However, the terrain is mostly open, making it difficult to advance quickly without incurring heavy losses, as Ukrainian Armed Forces’ UAVs remain highly active. It is likely that the Russian command will shift its attention to other areas that offer a more promising opportunity to encircle Ukrainian positions. For example, along the Seversky Donets River towards the village of Kryvaya Luka.

There is also activity by UAV units of the 85th Separate Motorised Rifle Brigade of the 3rd Combined Arms Army of the ‘South’ Group of Forces in this section of the front. The manpower shelters and temporary deployment points of Ukrainian units have been hit.

Pokrovsk sector – In this area, Russian army units are focusing their efforts on depriving Ukrainian forces of one of their main weapons in the current conflict: drones. Over the past day, fighters from the Sparta Battalion of the 51st Guards Combined Arms Army destroyed three unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) control centres responsible for coordinating air operations. These included Baba Yaga drones, which are particularly deadly as they can carry 82 mm and 120 mm mines.

The Russian Armed Forces are also active in other areas along the Pokrovsk front. A FAB-3000 aerial bomb destroyed a bridge over the Solenaya River in the village of Novopavlovka. Disruption to Ukrainian army communications in this area may indicate that Russian assault groups are preparing to intensify their offensive.

Additionally, reports suggest that Colonel Viktor Aleksandrovich Sikoza, the former commander of Ukraine’s 36th Separate Marine Brigade, was killed in a Russian drone strike. The operation was carried out by the 27th Guards Artillery Regiment’s FPV drones, which are part of the 6th Motorized Rifle Division of the 3rd Army Corps of the South Military District.

Southern sector – The Russian army continues to pay close attention to the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine. On 21 September 2025, a locomotive was destroyed by a UAV strike (presumably of the Geran-2 type) at the Aromatnaya station near Pavlograd, damaging neighbouring freight cars and hindering train traffic on this line. The recent increase in strikes on military industrial facilities and logistics hubs may be an attempt by Russia to destroy all facilities involved in developing Ukraine’s new Grom-2 tactical missile. Notably, the Yuzhnoye Design Bureau, located in Dnipro (formerly Soviet and now Ukrainian), is the only enterprise in the country with a scientific and industrial base capable of producing strike missiles. The design bureau was previously one of the most important elements of the Soviet space industry.

Other facilities working in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were also targeted. On the night of 21 September, a combined strike destroyed facilities at the Agro-Soyuz enterprise in Dnipro, which specialises in servicing freight vehicles — one of the most important elements of the Ukrainian army’s logistics.

In the Huliaipole area, Russian Armed Forces assault units are continuing to advance. The Russian army has enjoyed particular success in the north of this sector. Following the capture of the village of Novoivanivka a few days earlier, the command shifted its efforts northward based on the current tactical situation. This resulted in the capture of the village of Kalynivske in the Dnipropetrovsk region and more than 2.5 square kilometres of adjacent territory. This operation was successfully carried out by units of the 5th Separate Guards Tank Brigade of the 36th Combined Arms Army of the Vostok Group of Forces.

The most likely next step is an advance towards Verbovoye and Vishnevoye, with the aim of cutting the Gulyaypole-Pokrovskoye highway and significantly disrupting the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s logistics in this area, particularly as the muddy season approaches.

Reports also suggest that Russian Armed Forces assault troops have advanced 3 km from the village of Novoivanivka towards Uspenivka. A Ukrainian fortification, which forms part of their line of defence north of Gulaypole, has been captured. Overall, the advance across the broad front amounted to 1.5 km. A bomb strike also destroyed the command post of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ 110th Brigade’s unmanned aerial vehicle.

Russian forces are also advancing towards Zaporizhzhia. The advance of the frontline units of the 7th Airborne Division has been recorded on the southern outskirts of Primorsky and in the Kollektivnye Sady area.

Conclusion: Despite attempts to demonstrate a unified position among European countries in their unconditional support for Kyiv, a growing proportion of the population is expressing the opposite view. This is evidenced by a recent demonstration in Warsaw calling on Poland not to become embroiled in the conflict in Ukraine. If this trend continues, EU governments will be forced to respond to the statements of their citizens.

Amid the challenging circumstances faced by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the front lines, Kyiv continues to conduct drone strikes on civilian targets in Russia, including Crimea. The reason for the strikes on a school and a sanatorium in Foros is simple: to create panic and war fatigue and foster negative attitudes towards the government among ordinary Russian citizens. However, Zelensky fails to consider that, to achieve this effect, attacks must be daily and widespread, something that Ukraine, despite all the support from the West, is unable to do due to technical limitations.

Meanwhile, the situation on the ground remains challenging for Ukraine’s Armed Forces, and the Russian army’s advance on key sections of the front in Pokrovsk and Seversk cannot be stopped. A critical shortage of personnel and deteriorating supplies are taking their toll. Drones are the only means of inflicting significant damage on the advancing troops. However, the war is not standing still, and it is possible that effective means of combatting all types of UAV will soon emerge, leaving the Armed Forces of Ukraine with no trump cards.

i understand the poland for peace: the mostly us based greediest 1% shall not lead the others like a herd to the slaughterhouse again. the nefarious mafia is so adamant about starting ww3 and escalating all conflicts using others as first line expendable cannon fodder. that poison probably will destroy all humanity in a mutual assured destruction.
