US-Backed Forces Admit That Battle Against ISIS In Euphrates Valley Is Still Ongoing

by: sdf-press.com

The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) admitted on April 2 that the Middle Euphrates River Valley is still witnessing heavy clashes between their units and the remaining ISIS fighters.

“SDF combing the area in al-Baghuz [al-Fawqani] and its vicinity, dismantling mines, traps, looking for sleeper cells and other remnants of Daesh [ISIS]. There’re still some terrorists hiding in the cave system in vicinity of mount al-Baghuz,” Mustafa Bali, a spokesman for the group, wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, several sources confirmed that US-led coalition warplanes conducted a series of new airstrikes on the last ISIS hideouts around al-Baghuz al-Fawqani between April 2 and 3.

According to a new report by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the SDF is yet to reveal the fate of thousands of civilians and fighters who had been abducted by ISIS over the last five years. The US-backed group is still focusing on neutralizing the remaining terrorists.

The SDF announced the “complete defeat of ISIS in Syria” on March 23. However, the continued clashes in the Euphrates Valley show that the announcement was an ordinary propaganda stunt.
